What are these (instinct, intuition, logical thinking, and wisdom)?
What are these (instinct, intuition, logical thinking, and wisdom)?
Instinct, intuition, logical thinking, and wisdom. I know what instinct and logical thinking are. Do you know what intuition and wisdom are?

intuition is the amount you owe the college when you study and live there...
wisdom is knowing when your leg is being pulled...

A few questions: 1) What is pattern matching? 2) To me, thinking is pattern recognition so I was wondering what the difference is between pattern matching and pattern recognition. 3) Couldn't the conscious mind make pattern matching?
Re: What are these (instinct, intuition, logical thinking, and wisdom)?
One can consciously search for patterns, find them, ponder their importance and drawn conclusions. However one can also (frequently) subconsciously perceive a pattern and a "conclusion" of sorts, a "feeling" if you will, can enter one's mind without conscious recognition of how or why it got there. An example is the hairs on the back of your neck rising in concern when a particular person paases by you on the sidewalk.bahman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 3:48 pmA few questions: 1) What is pattern matching? 2) To me, thinking is pattern recognition so I was wondering what the difference is between pattern matching and pattern recognition. 3) Couldn't the conscious mind make pattern matching?

I agree that the subconscious mind also thinks. Are you saying that intuition is just an impression produced by the subconscious mind after thinking about a subject?LuckyR wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 8:59 pmOne can consciously search for patterns, find them, ponder their importance and drawn conclusions. More or less. I'd put it as your subconscious mind creates the impression, then your conscious mind either goes with it or suppresses it (usually after thinking about it).bahman wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 9:03 pmI agree that the subconscious mind also thinks. Re: What are these (instinct, intuition, logical thinking, and wisdom)?
E-prime tells us:
- Skillful action requires the marriage of wisdom and compassion.
- In theory, perfect wisdom reveals advance recognition of how particular actions will contribute to the inevitable outcome of current conditions.
- Because I Am reveals as the only absolute certainty for humans, actual wisdom lies in knowing with high probability the inevitably of a particular outcome occurring, just as a human span of years limits knowledge of eternity.
- However, if identification and accurate assessment of every element that comprises a condition should occur, in either reactionary or benign relationship with all the other elements of the condition, one could suffer the delusion of creating reality rather than merely manipulating reality, a misapprehension due to the getting lucky in which the three times become one.
- Example 1: Wisdom reveals that yelling at a particular dog like a fired-up Biden will result in either silence or more barking. A wise man will further the inevitability of silence by yelling or not yelling according to the condition of the dog, rather than lumping all dogs into one voting block.
- Example 2: Solomon knew that he would not have to cut the baby in half, even though he probably lied when he said he would.
- If wandering in the valley of incomprehension, climb out to the light of comprehension with a toe hold, like those brave first Army Rangers who climbed the cliffs of Normandy under fire.

But how could we possibly know the outcome of our decisions in the far distant future when we know other people could also affect our lives?
Re: What are these (instinct, intuition, logical thinking, and wisdom)?
as far as wisdom goes a quote i heard sums it up i think:
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit
wisdom is knowing not to put them in a fruit salad
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit
wisdom is knowing not to put them in a fruit salad
