DEI
I couldn't help but notice several rather small women 'protecting' Trump at his rally. The current director of the SS (unfortunate acronym) is a woman who apparently used to work for Pepsi.
If I needed to hire someone to protect me I would hire a man (ironically to protect me from men). There are a lot of things that men are just better at.
I wonder how many people will die thanks to 'DIE' patronising garbage.
Imagine having a DIE surgeon, doctor, midwife, airline pilot, engineer, builder.....
If, as one example, an airline suddenly starts saying that it is now 'embracing DEI' then that is the same as either admitting that it previously discriminated against top quality pilots based on their 'race, religion, ethnicity, sex, blue hair blah blah' or that it was now employing sub-standard pilots based on their 'race, religion, ethnicity, sex, blue hair...'. Which is it?

Still too short. Trump is a very tall man with a huge head.attofishpi wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 11:58 pmYes but thinking isn't going to stop a bullet. A fat woman just might.

Re: DEI
...diversity, equity and inclusion...
Of course, for decades here in America there was very, very little diversity, equity and inclusion. Why? Because for decades in America all of the good jobs, political power, leadership positions, promotions, rewards and perks etc., went to white men.
I remember as a kid living in an all-white working-class neighborhood. We'd see black folks from time to time. The janitor at the school I went to, the garbagemen, laborers at one or anther construction site. And why not. They were after all "colored". And then we had Amos and Andy on the tube back then in order to explain the lack of diversity, equity and inclusiveness in America.
So, when white males ruled the roost [for decades and decades] the part about DEI was no doubt rationalized by many because they were, well, racists.

Btw, contrary to what you believe, white men are not 'default humans'.
I don't expect you to understand this intellectually incredibly difficult and complex conceptualisation.

So now nerds are a 'vulnerable protected group'? As good as any I suppose.henry quirk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 2:17 amIf people who are genuinely the best for a job and are passed over because they are 'diverse' () then there is a problem.

The only genuine 'vulnerable groups' are children and the elderly. Who's stopping black Americans from starting up their own airlines/hospitals etc. and then discriminating against 'white cis men'?
Re: DEI
In the Trump assassination attempt, videos show that the female Secret Service agents were getting unintentionally pushed here and there because of their small size, and the commotion. They were kind of in the way even though they sort of knew what to do, however the Secret Service was reacting at that point, because of poor proaction.accelafine wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 10:44 pm I couldn't help but notice several rather small women 'protecting' Trump at his rally. One female agent was recorded yelling, what do we do, what do we do? But you know, these days that could have been dubbed in by someone with a political agenda.
When the big, strong men were hustling the big, heavy man into the limo, the women agents were seen hopping about and looking very worried. There is a blonde agent looking all around quickly as if someone was going to open fire at that very moment, and a burly brunette agent who almost gets knocked down, which due to the mass involved would likely require medical attention and perhaps a nice little disability settlement.
I’d be willing to bet that Peter Principle was put into force to promote DEI’s into supervisory and planning positions.
The media is tossing about the term “30%”, as in, the Secret Service has a DEI quota of 30%, however that number was determined.
Has the director been fired because of the assassination attempt? She should be. But first there will be a blue-ribbon commission. It doesn’t get any better than blue ribbon to demonstrate the grave concern, and it shows the government is really doing something.

Re: DEI
Wokists are such arrogant, patronising, racist twats. What they are saying, when they bang on about 'diversity' and 'quotas' is, ''White people like us are the default humans, the 'proper ones', and everyone else is a 'divergence' from that and needs our special help to get on in life. It's only by virtue of our magnanimous generosity that these helpless, lesser beings can live successful and productive lives. They should be eternally grateful to us. They couldn't possibly become doctors, lawyers, ballet dancers, scientists, airline pilots, working actors etc. etc. without our special help''.

Re: DEI
This is one thing we can agree on. I remember an article appearing on Reddit years ago about how some fire fighter station lowered their weight lifting standards for women. There was a little debate in the comments, most people naturally said "fuck that, safety is more important than woke shit. If I'm passed out in a smoke filled room, I want a man who can lift me, not a woman who can't."accelafine wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 10:44 pm If I needed to hire someone to protect me I would hire a man (ironically to protect me from men). I remember this remarkably stupid woman in the comments arguing that, if lifting people is too hard for women, it's important to let those women drag people instead. People had to explain to her that the concussions you would get from a woman dragging you down the stairs, your head hitting each one on the way down, are not worth the type of equality she was seeking. I don't think she ever really learned, though - I think she was willing to sacrifice a few thousand people to fires in the name of feminism.
Luckily that type of mentality is actually not that common even on the left - only the people who take it too far think that kinda shit.

Not so far-fetched considering 'women's' sport is now full of men (not to mention women's changing rooms). Funny how the sanctimonious 'be kind' brigade is perfectly ok with that.Impenitent wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 10:26 pm we need at least 3 dwarves on every NBA team... at least one per quarter for a minimum of 3 minutes...
