Sometimes you have no choice. If you see ant scouts you really have to kill them or they go back and tell all their friends about the goodies they found and then you get up one morning and your kitchen is over-run with them.
Only idiots kill spiders though. They are the best pest control system.
I rarely kill anything and always feel bad if I do. I try to just put things back outside that I don't want in the house.

I was a pescatarian for a while as well for moral reasons, but I gave that up too. These days I just don't have the energy and patience to put in the extra effort.

We do keep it clean. Roaches always find something to get into, though. And the snakes are probably there to chase them. We caught three baby snakes in the house this week. They're about the size of a fishing worm. Our cat likes to play with them when she finds one.
