Those were certainly words.
As are these, words which explain the rationale for posting the Ten Commandments in Classrooms, in order to teach the little children through indoctrination, so that they may compare life events to the Commandments and learn the cause and effect of goodness for themselves, in real time.
The bill points to more recent decisions by the Supreme Court finding that the Ten Commandments “have historical significance as one of the foundations of our legal system” and represent a “common cultural heritage.” The bill further states that “Recognizing the historical role of the Ten Commandments accords with our nation’s history and faithfully reflects the understanding of the founders of our nation with respect to the necessity of civil morality to a function [SIC] self-government.”
“History records that James Madison, the fourth President of the United States of America, stated that ‘(w)e have staked the whole future of our new nation . . . upon the capacity of each of ourselves to govern ourselves according to the moral principles of the Ten Commandments,”‘ the bill reads.
These words are not nonsense, and to perceive them is such borders on a philosophical self-indictment, and under Lawfare of Man where even presidential candidates can land in the hoosegow for expressing the wrong thoughts, what hope can mere peons such as us ever think is real?

Yeah, bollocks words. Arguing that a document which says "obey the sabbath" isn't a religious document is bonkers. Anybody with more than a few brain cells to rub together sees through the baloney of that.

Hogwash.
As Buddha says, You must look to the meaning, and not limit yourself to the words.
Just because some asshole doesn't like the word "sabbath," does not negate the meaning of the morality that is the basis for the display.
Thank goodness the wise folks posting the Ten Commandments are not Dictionary Nazis who think that teaching morality is teaching religion because of a single word, but rather they are intelligent folks who look to the meanings of what's going on.

I like how you don't clarify what that morality is. What's the mortality of the commandment about Sabbath?

Op is nonsense, the 10 commandments is not all just basic morality. Don't say the lord's name in vain, honour the Sabbath - these are clearly religious and only make sense in a religious context.
Yeah, the first four are religious: the remaining six, though, surely you can't object to...

Why? What does 5 even mean? What if your parents are pieces of shit?
How about let's keep it simple: don't make laws forcing all schools to show religious documents.

Flapdoodle. Sabbath is your hangup.
Top of the SCOTUS building.
Lawgivers Confucius, Moses, and Solon
Huh? Isn’t Moses connected with religion? He may have even said the word, Sabbath.

I think the complaints about this are becuz it's a particular set of ethical instructions, yes. Moreover, I think the complaints about this are becuz of the supposed source of these ethical instructions.

Right. These people aren't complaining about ethical instruction as a general principle. They're not protesting teaching 5 year olds how to play nice and be kind, are they?

If we would just loosen up our bigoted immigration laws, we could post Sharia Laws in all the classrooms in Louisiana.
Walker and Henry would approve. In principle, at least.
