Alright remember that cat Steve Gadd (drummer) who played the drums in that clip from SD's aja i posted weeks back? Kay here's Gadd with Stanley (the silly putty guy above who Les did a cover of, if u aren't following) in 75.

Steve's bout to take em there. Watch... let em get into that zone for a second.

Pastorius thought Stanley Clarke was a clown, tho. But u have to understand the context of the judgement and what was going on at the time. All the new big fusion bands were competing for the lime light and when a bassist hears what he thinks is an inferior bassist get more attention than him, he gets a little jealous and assertive.

I truly believe that when Jaco heard that above (on Stanley's album) song, he thought to himself how he would run all over up and down what Gadd played on the drums. Those beats are capable of carrying much heavier bass playing than what Stanley is doing with those repetitious licks of his. This is very likely an instance of Stanley being likened to a clown on the bass. But of course it's all relative and Clarke's still one of the main first real fusion bassists that came out in the early seventies and went commercial.

So in the end if Clarke is a clown, it's only becuz Jaco is so good. Compared to all other bassists, Clarke is a boss... so the statement is also not true. Ergo, Clarke is not a clown.

Great now i can't find the comment and/or video where Jaco's commenting on bassists and says that.

There was a brief plan to collaborate between them, tho. Nothing came of it.

Lol somebody superimposed some BB King footage onto Chick Corea, Pastorius and Gadd playing together.

https://youtu.be/MA472YwhHFo

That guy... the domineering italian scientologist-believing jazz pianist virtuoso there... is the guy on keys in that one i posted above. I thought i wouldn't have to mention it was cheap korean on piano becuz u can always tell when he's soloing becuz the lines are flawless and flow like a low spectrum highly functioning autistic kid savant with hyperactive disorder would flow on a piano.

Bro how can u be that musically competent but believe scientology is legitimate and real? Doesn't a certain degree of rational and logical reasoning abilities come with the intelligence that is there producing the musical talent and ability?

Tom Cruise is another one. He's not a dumb guy, so what's going on? Is it all just a gimmick or is he sincere in his belief in it?

It's the lazy swagger of the drums and that single guitar chord against the bass that does it. That's how a diesel would sound if it were a song.

By the way if u want to hear the best thing Harry Connick jr was ever a part of, it's this song simpliciter. Everything else excepting a few more minutes of song on that album, is mediocre and sometimes insufferable by that awful generic commercial sound. But this one jams.

Listen to the drummer gettin in the pocket there at the end.
