I think it's generally believed that prejudice is bred from lack of exposure to the people you're prejudiced against, the idea being that seeing that they are human also will dispel what are believed to be myths about sinister motives in all of a particular group. I mean, they're probably thinking of Nazi propaganda against Jews prior to the Holocaust which objectified Jews as somehow "other than" everyone else. And it's my understanding that statistically, gays, trans and mentally ill tend to be victims of abuse more often than "normal" people.phyllo wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 6:43 pmYou can teach kids not to bully others without teaching the woke agenda. Are the schools telling children to become homosexual or trans or is the focus on getting other children to accept homosexual or trans children who have historically been victims of bullying? I'm not attending schools anymore so I don't have first hand knowledge, and it was my impression that the reason for all this stuff is to reduce bullying outside the schools. However, I suppose bullying is something that is going to go on regardless, so perhaps educators should take a hands-off approach to bullying, let the children work things out for themselves. I mean, being bullied is not the end of the world. It sucks while you're going through it, but you grow up and over most of it eventually.
As I say, public schools focus more on a diverse body of students getting along with each other than do private schools. Private schools can more or less keep the "riff raff" out if they choose. What can be done?
