A Dark Night of Truth

Post by Gary Childress »

Bertrand Russell once said that the problem with the world is that the ignorant are cock sure and the intelligent are full of doubt. And yet one wonders how can doubt be intelligent and certainty be ignorance? Maybe Russell was wrong. And maybe he and the rest of us philosophers are the ignorant ones. In the end, perhaps nature is driven by impulse and desire and knowledge is faith and it is we who question Nature who are anti-natural and therefore not favored by nature.

Perhaps life is a wonderful thing...for others. But my birth was a mistake. It should never have happened. Survival of the fittest is cruel. And we live in a cruel world. I lose.

Well apparently what we know as 'life' is just an interface anyway, like a VR headset. Reality is something much, much deeper and perhaps unknowable. Not sure why some people get stuck with shitty lives while others seem to get everything. Perhaps they just have cheap, nasty headsets?

One might notice that he is not saying that "doubt is intelligent" or that "certainty is ignorance".

He's talking about the characteristics of ignorant and intelligent people.

It's ironic actually, that the day the genius Kropotkin accused me of being an angry hateful - somefin?

Earlier that day (*this was last weak I think) I was at a bottlo, and this really old fella in front of me, just by looking at him you could see he couldn't afford a pot to piss in - well I overheard him say oh, I haven't got two dollars as he was searching through his wallet.

On the counter he had 1 long-neck beer (a big bottle of beer) and two stubbies of beer (small beers) - - - *just in case it's all different in your neck of the woods.

Well, the guy behind the counter - he took away one of the small beers - a stubbie and put it on a shelf behind him. I said to the chap 'mate, do you only need $2?' 'yes' he said.

I said to the 'clerk' get that beer back for him here's $2. Meant FUCK ALL to me financially, but I know how much better I feel if I've got 1 more beer in the fridge! This bloke was beside himself with thank you etc..

He even waited for me to exit the bottlo to thank me again...I had my son glasses on and was glad of it, because I was borderline tearing up for the ol' fella. I'm "hey mate we gotta look after each other." - he had a bicycle to ride home on. It's so expensive here in Oz now - ridiculous actually. I don't smoke but there's an old fella with no legs I look out for around the corner. I go to the shops to buy him some tobacco occasionally - (his money - I aint into charity!) - 50grams of tobacco is $150. BELIEVE IT OR NOT. The scum politicians are taxing the crap out of addicted ol fellas etc..

On the news a big report on how much illegal tobacco customs have seized!!! - like it was a meth seize. ffs.

Not like you to virtue-signal. Oh please. That old trick. People know how much they can afford BEORE they go into a store (especially a liquor store). The old fart could have been a paedophile, or released serial killer (there are plenty of those in oz). And did he ride off on the footpath? It's not safe to walk on the footpaths here with all the yukky old alcoholic men tearing around on them on bikes like the entitled shit-heads that they are.

I knew as I typed that you might post the ol' "virtue-signalling" thang. Unlike you I don't automatically think the worst of people simply because of their obvious financial situation. Do I think he probably has a few coins in a jar at least that would have sort the 1 beer issue out, probably.
Re the "pedo"/"serial-killer" angle - more likely was raped as a child in state run ophanage like a good friend of mine., Never had the opportunities you and I take for granted.
The old fella with no legs around the corner, I suppose he was a pedo too? He actually pushed his father-in-law out of a hotel window when he heard about the sicko had molested his youger sister.

Funny ol' world aint it?

Idiot. I'm saying you don't have a clue about him. He might even be a muti-millionaire who enjoys the 'game' of seeing how many suckers will take pity on him. And yes, 'paedos' get old too. So do serial killers.
