Why we can not see the future?
Why we can not see the future?
On the sky (for example). Any idea?

Re: Why we can not see the future?
"Why we can (possibly) see the future?" By the projecting faculties of the mind in the mind AND not on the sky! Just the suggestion.

What do you mean?Cerveny wrote:On the sky (for example). Any idea?
Re: Why we can not see the future?
I wonder which of physical law or expression/equation is responsible for it (for we can see only historical part of "space-time")... Why the light cannot go against the time axis?Arising_uk wrote:What do you mean?Cerveny wrote:On the sky (for example). Any idea?
Re: Why we can not see the future?
I suppose this touches upon several of the deepest questions there is.
One is the question of "now", the notion that a point in time separates past from future. What is "now"? In physics, there is no actual difference between past and future. In a sense, we can see the past, since light that has travelled from distant stars for millions of years reaches us here and now. But we can experience neither past nor future. When we look to the stars, what we see is caused by photons hitting our eyes right "now".

I do not ask you about any arrow, I am asking you about any appropriate physical equation or about the appropriate physical law. I do not know the TR deals witht some arrows :( Please mark the equation where such arrow is dealed with...i blame blame wrote: These may be of interest of you:

Why we can not see the photons created in the future (in case there is not an actual difference betwen the past and the future)?Notvacka wrote:I suppose this touches upon several of the deepest questions there is.![]()

Re: Why we can not see the future?
There is no difference. Every future is also a past, it's just a matter of perspective. There is no movement in the four-dimensional space-time of physical reality. Time does not move, but somehow we appear to move through time. But our four-dimensional physical bodies do not move, only the individually, subjectively experienced point of "now" does. What causes this experience of moving through time is not clearly understood, however.Cerveny wrote:Why we can not see the photons created in the future (in case there is not an actual difference betwen the past and the future)?

Re: Why we can not see the future?
We can only see photons that excite molecules in our retina when they cease to exist. This excitation is transmitted to the brain and processed there (possibly). A photon created in the future can't have interacted with our retina yet.Cerveny wrote: Why we can not see the photons created in the future (in case there is not an actual difference betwen the past and the future)?
For an isolated system (the only isolated system we know of is the universe):Cerveny wrote:I do not ask you about any arrow, I am asking you about any appropriate physical equation or about the appropriate physical law. where S is entropy and t is time.

Do you believe the Universe was more ordered in its begining then it is ordered now? BTW any time arrow is in conflict with TR :(i blame blame wrote:For an isolated system (the only isolated system we know of is the universe):

Re: Why we can not see the future?
Just to make sure, when you say "TR" is that an abbreviation for "Theory of Relativity"? If so, I do not think those words mean what you think they mean.

Yes.Cerveny wrote: Do you believe the Universe was more ordered in its begining then it is ordered now?
Would you care to explain why you think this to be so?Cerveny wrote:BTW any time arrow is in conflict with TR

Sounds like you know a little about the Theory of Relativity. If you are interested in helping us out, SGR started a thread a long time ago that just seemed to fizzle out...I think because we all got confused. (Well at least I know I got confused.) Anyway, if you would provide any assistance with your understanding of the subject it would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Why we can not see the future?
Hehe, sure, I'll check it out. I really like relativity. It took me a long time to wrap my head around it but once it finally "clicked" it was a window into just how strange and fantastic the universe really is.artisticsolution wrote:Hi Converge, converge wrote:Just to make sure, when you say "TR" is that an abbreviation for "Theory of Relativity"?
