It worth hearing Robinson's first hand experience as there are not many who as brave him to communicate the truth which one can verified with evidences.

The law he broke was two types of fraud. On the one hand he made illegal contributions to his own presidential campaign by paying off a porn star who he fucked on a promise of including her in his hit TV show but then, you know, stiffed. He used a shady lawyer as the middleman in this above crime. That lawyer purchased the life story of the porn star in order to hold the publishing rights and not allow publication using his own personal cash, remortgaging his house to raise that money.

The second part is a fraudulent book keeping in order to cover up the above crime, and by that doubling of naughtiness, turning a misdemenour level crime into a felony. The property purchased by that lawyer was put through the Trump books as income for said lawyer in the form of legal services. But it wasn't services. It would be equivalent to buying a car from your lawyer and telling your accoutnant that you purchased nothing but advice. This is basic accounting fraud, and obviously against the law. To commit accounting fraud in order to cover up some other crime is felonious under New York law.

The truly stupid thing is that this is a crime that no billionaire would normally face actual punishment for. Trump however has three main reasons for somehow getting fucked over.

1. Firstly, he forced his own lawyers to use the wrong defence. They shouldn't have tried to persuade the jury that Trump didn't fuck Stormy Daniels, mainly because whether he fucked her or not was irrelevant to the case and wasting your time on that effort is playing into the prosecutor's hands. But also because everybody knows he is a ol' dirty bastard and he absolutely did fuck her.

2. Trump is a terrible client in general and no sane lawyer will work for him because he requires them to do stupid things and perform for him like monkeys. In the case Trump just lost, his top (remaining) lawyer Todd Blanche screamed at multiple witnesses like a fucking idiot. The stuff he was shouting about was insane, stupid shit about how much talking you can do in 90 seconds (the prosecution lawyer showed how much conversation you can do in half that time, and because Blanche had shouted so muich about this, that was some killer evidence which it wouldn't otherwise have been). All of Trump's lawyers end up behaving this way, mainly it seems because Trump doesn't think they are working unless they are shouting at people like he would be. But it pisses the jury off, so it doesn't work. He got destroyed in court against E. Jean Carroll in large part because his lawyers in those cases similarly pissed off the juries. His costs went up by about $50 million because of the behaviour of his counsel in the second case.

3. Trump, in spite of being a billionaire also doesn't pay his lawyers and everyone knows it. Also his lawyers keep pursuing stupid cases until they lose their licenses, which everyone also knows. His lawyers in the last two cases are facing serious sanctions, one of them will certainly lose her license and is quite likely to go to prison herself. It's probably not coincidental that after Trump used a shady lawyer as his middleman, and after Trump illegally repaid that lawyer for property as if it were services, Trump then recouped that same amount of money from the same lawyer's Christmas bonus, and then when the cops came asking questions that lawyer turned out not to be very loyal and provided the evidence that sunk Trump in order to save his own skin.

If he had paid his lawyers over the last decade or two, and allowed his legal counsel select the defence policy, he would have totally OJed this case. Trump fucked himself royally.
