In humanity, Briffault's law leads to hypergamy:Briffault's law
The female, not the male, determines all the conditions of the animal family. Where the female can derive no benefit from association with the male, no such association takes place. — Robert Briffault, The Mothers. Vol. I, p. 191
After decades of combating the gender wage gap, it has finally shrunk below 10%:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypergamy
In a 2016 paper that explored the income difference between couples in 1980 and 2012, researcher Yue Qian noted that the tendency for women to marry men with higher incomes than themselves still persists in the modern era.
Can women still find suitable mates nowadays, without much of a gender wage gap?https://www.pewresearch.org/social-tren ... er-pay-gap
A good share of the increase in the gender pay gap takes place when women are between the ages of 35 and 44. In 2022, women ages 25 to 34 earned about 92% as much as men of the same ages.
Without gender pay gap, family formation and sexual reproduction gradually come to a halt.https://www.independent.co.uk/life-styl ... 98956.html
Lack of ‘economically-attractive’ men to blame for decline in marriage rates, study suggests. Authors say many young men have 'little to bring to the marriage bargain'. Researchers found that the estimated potential husbands had an average income that was 58 per cent higher than the actual amount unmarried men earn.
But then again, is this truly a problem?
Is there really a need to perpetuate a society that is based on self-destructive false beliefs?
According to Schumpeter's notion of creative destruction, companies do not learn or improve. They get destroyed and get replaced by better companies.
In my opinion, the same holds true for entire societies. There is no point in trying to improve a society. It is not even useful to do that. A society based on false beliefs will simply get destroyed and get replaced by a better society. Hence, I am not in favor of advocating any improvement to the western society or trying to debunk its false beliefs.
Schumpeter's theory suggests that the best solution strategy for a societal problem is to simply "let it rot". It is from the ashes of western civilization that the real solution will arise.
