Kropotkin, chatbox and philosophy....
Some around here have accused me of being an ''AI CHATBOX"
and to honest, I don't actually know what that means...
but it isn't true.... but here is the thing....we
can see philosophy and human beings in this false belief
about Kropotkin....
a false belief has captured the minds/hearts of a set of people...
that Kropotkin is an AI chat box.. and yet, as Kropotkin,
I can tell you this is wrong... but what evidence can I present
that will change minds? I have been married for 27 years,
I graduated from high school in 1977.. I have one daughter...
I am a front end manager in a grocery store... I own over
5000 books...I have 4 other brother or sisters..
my mom is 88 years old... and what evidence will be acceptable
for those who hold this false belief about Kropotkin?
and yet, no matter what evidence I present, there are those who will
not change their minds.. they are set on their belief that Kropotkin is
an AI chatbot... and this, to me anyway, is a classic example of
dogmatism...to hold a belief regardless of the evidence to
the contrary.... and much of philosophy is done this way...
holding onto beliefs regardless of the evidence against said belief...
for example, holding onto the belief that ''there is a god"
there is no evidence/facts that support this belief, and
yet, here it is... to irrationally hold a belief regardless of
what the facts or evidence is, that is dogmatism....
and what is the counter method of removing, or at least trying to
remove dogmatism? why it is a reexamination of values...
of taking our values and seeing which values are actually our
values and not the society or the state's values...
we are born into a set of values and beliefs, held by the family,
the state, the media, the church, the society....
I was born in 1959 in Minnesota, because of the time and place
of my birth, I was raised to hold certain values...
had I been born in California, where I live now, I would have
been born being indoctrinated by a different set of values...
or if I were born in 2000... I would have been born within a
different set of indoctrinated values...
our childhood indoctrinations are what we need to overcome,
as Nietzsche stated.. are the values we hold, actually our values,
or are our values really the values indoctrinated into us, by
the state, society, the church, the media, the family....
I hold that for most people, most people, that the values/beliefs
that they hold are really the values indoctrinated into them as children...
to believe in god, country, guns, are indoctrinated values....
my values/beliefs have changed over the decades..
as I grow older, my values/beliefs have changed... what values
I held as a 24 year old, is vastly different than the values I hold
as a 64 years old....age does that... and I suspect that as I further
age, my values/beliefs will continue to change and adapt to the
closeness of my upcoming death....for I shall die... and I must come
to terms with that... and the very fact that I will die changes my
values and beliefs... we change as our environment/situation changes...
and among those changes, are changes in values and beliefs....
what will be my legacy? my legacy is there will be no legacy,
I seriously doubt anyone will remember me 5 minutes after my death...
and I am ok with that...
so continue to believe that I am a AI chatbox... for I am human
with all my human failings... but at least I don't hold onto
foolish beliefs like the belief that Kropotkin is a AI chatbox...
or that you are an AI chatbox...

I believe you; AI isn't yet good enough to convincingly fake your failings.Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 4:47 pm

There's really no reason to give the accusation a single thought. Just ask for criticisms of specific arguments or conclusions you have. It's more or less an ad hom, though a very modern one and one we will see more of. Unless you want to Dox yourself to an extreme degree so people can call you up at work or at home or drive by and visit, no amount of you relating personal information demonstrates anything.Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 4:47 pm Some around here have accused me of being an ''AI CHATBOX"

You are not an AI chatbox. You are an AI chatbot. There is a difference, so I understand your confusion.

You're not a chatbox, you're a shoe box. It's full of mentally diseased squirrels.Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 4:47 pm Some around here have accused me of being an ''AI CHATBOX"

Hello Kropotkin here I am meno_ I second every and all allegation for we are both expatriate from the Ai controversy, shoebox or chatbox, an indifference one could take home to mom before new year..
Re: Kropotkin, chatbox and philosophy....
Hey Kropotkin, do you remember me? You do not check your mail often? Well, are you still on ILP, or did you abandon it? I don’t know my way around here, but a few ex patriots from ILP are here. Meanwhile , can I ask you to reacquaint?

Re: Kropotkin, chatbox and philosophy....
K: of course, I remember you... I don't check my mail at all... should I?
I go on ILP just to see what is going on, usually nothing at all,
I save my philosophy for here.. ILP has become a joke because the
only ones who post are right wing fanatics...no real philosophy has
been done there in quite a while...just fanaticism... and that bores me...
acquaint away......

Re: Kropotkin, chatbox and philosophy....
“ acquaint away......”
Well sure, do you have any idea what took/is taking place, that so miraculously extracted me from ILP? Do you think just getting up and quitting, or leaving without any code violation or warning was the cause?
Check again. It was an AI issue, not even chatbox involvement or double cross could have been behind it. So I have been in a journey, now given up, of reality checking, and by the same token a useless venture to try to seek rational explanation where such leads only to antithetically impossible derivatives, that most probably plunge through ever widening spaces.
Apart from that , I am glad to be here, and will try to overcome the early growing pains which come with being a newbie .

Re: Kropotkin, chatbox and philosophy....
I can only state that I fled ILP because it was full of
people who had no interest in philosophy but wanted
a forum for vile hate and racism and the worst kind of fanatism...
I tried to beat back the tide, but I failed... so instead of drowning in
the filth, I fled...people calling for genocide and other fun stuff..
I'll pass, thank you...
as for this place, it is certainly a step up, I'll grant you that,
but most people around here are not that interested in philosophy
and really just interested in polemics... and that is better than the outright
bigotry and prejudice of ILP...
as you know from ILP, I tend to post in a lot of different areas
and my engagement is to get people to think about subjects
and have thoughts, they normally wouldn't have...
I have very little interest in defending an idea or thought
I have.... I throw out an idea and then I'm gone.. I've moved
on to other thoughts or ideas...my philosophical agenda
can be described as "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee''
and most threads of mine here, get ignored... Oh well....
I really don't care.... read me, or don't.... answer me or don't...
the philosopher I relate to the most is of course, Nietzsche...
not his ideas, but in the way he philosophizes... I doubt I
could write a book of philosophy to save my life... but
a couple of paragraphs, done deal....I don't try to dazzle people
with bullshit, to get them to think how smart I am by
pretending to be profound...... I have no interest in that crap....
I just want philosophy to be much more straightforward and
simpler.... just the facts ma'am....
