the heaviness of existence...
when I woke up this morning, what did I face?
in the eyes of many, I faced the heaviness of existence...
where the weight of existence makes me feel like I
am drowning... but and this is important, we have
another path...
Life feels heavy because we have accepted that possibility...
and waking up this morning, I have other possibilities...
for the universe is not all gloom and doom...
as Gary seems to think....
I read the news today and oh boy,
and Putin has killed another..
and the GOP has threatened dictatorship..
and another shooting has killed another dozen...
the seas continue to rise and the dollar continues to fall...
and I ask, where is the lightness of being?
I woke up this morning and I had possibilities before me....
as I am old, I have less possibilities before me then I did before,
but they are there...
do I follow the herd and see disasters and murders and civil war?
or... or do I see something else....for there are other possibilities in
our lives...
something I like to do with my time is watching puppy video's...
how can the universe be so dire and heavy when there are puppy
video's?
We have forgotten the lightness of being... we have forgotten
what beauty is and we have forgotten sunsets and we have forgotten
the beauty of music... I spend my days writing and listening to music...
(but Kropotkin, you are deaf, how do you listen to music, I have
headphones and I play the music, very, very loud)
and I listen to music like the Beatles and new age music like George Winston
and classical music.. all hail Mozart...and the universe weighs a little bit less....
and I see the beauty in puppy dog videos and in pictures of the universe
and galaxies... I can spend hours just staring at pictures of other galaxies..
wondering, who lives in those galaxies and if someone else is staring at me?
and in wondering about alien life, gives me hope.... for if we are not
alone in the universe, I have hope for the future...for we have greater
possibilities if we are not alone...
for today, we are trained to look at the heaviness of existence,
and not the lightness of existence.... the fact we have, if we only
look, we have love and sunsets and roses to smell and pictures
of galaxies...and miles of beaches and mountains that last forever...
beauty and the lightness of existence is there, all we have to do is look..
instead of seeking out the heaviness of existence, the dark side of
being... murder and hatred and bigotry and prejudice...
for in our line of sight is also, love and hope and the beauty of existence..
all it takes for us is to pursue that lightness of existence...
to hear the music and feel the warm of the sun and
watch doggy video's to engage with the lightness of other
possibilities...
we can fixate on the heaviness of existence
or we can turn our vision toward the beauty that
is all around us..... we could see if we only looked...

Re: the heaviness of existence...
now one may ask, as one should, what can lighten
the burden of existence? what can lighten the heaviness of existence?
and one possible answer is, ART... we create to dispel or remove
the burden of existence, the heaviness that lies in all of us....
if we are so burden as to be unable to lift our heads to see the beauty of
of existence, we can still, even if our hands are tied, we can still
create ART... ART isn't as much an physical act as it is a mental one...
ART is mental thought turned into physical being...
now I am one who is, to turn a phrase, Artistically challenged...
I cannot draw or paint or weave a basket or carry a tune...
but I create, every single day I create with my philosophy...
it is the act of understanding the universe that is ART..
and I do that every single day with my philosophy....
and you do that every single time you respond to a post or a thread...
the act of creation is ART and we create ART every single time we post a thought
or create a thread...it doesn't have to be original or bring about joy or pleasure,
all ART has to do is turn mental thoughts into works.. be it written or physical
works like painting or building a collage... be it a visual or a music collage...
ART is mental thought turned physical....
you want to overcome the heaviness of existence, one possible path is
through the creation of physical matter from mental thought....
we can find the lightness of existence in our creation of ART...

Re: the heaviness of existence...
I'm glad you have found lightness in existence. You'll either continue to have that lightness or you won't. Hopefully there will be those binary thinkers who will support you from below. Otherwise, it might come down to whether you are guilty of something or not.
So now that Trump has been eliminated from becoming president, are there any others who are guilty of the same charges that Trump was indicted on that equally need to be brought to justice? Is anyone going to be brought to justice for getting us into the Iraq war which killed many Iraqis and many brave American soldiers who thought they were going to be "heroes"?

the condo's patio.. and within all the tree's and flowers, are birds..
and the bird I can see the most of is humming birds... dozens of hummingbirds...
and they fly about quickly and almost faster than the eye can see...
I am not saying to be pollyannish about the universe,
I am suggesting that it wouldn't hurt to refocus your POV into
seeing something other than the heaviness of existence... Iraq
war veterans and the latest mass murder and climate change,
will all still be there after I watch the humming birds...

Re: the heaviness of existence...
Then you are fortunate to have moments of "lightness". I wish you many of them. However, until existence becomes "heavy" for enough people, probably no one will be held accountable for the Iraq war that killed both Iraqis and Americans. But a man has been tried for trying to overturn an election for a government that otherwise got us into Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, Somalia, Syria...(did I forget any?) Does the Hague still have an "arrest" warrant out for Putin?Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 5:14 pmK: sitting at my kitchen table.. earth, but the path to insanity is following evil in all its possibilities...
turn that heaviness into a lightness of being by the act of creation...
that evil you are so concerned with, trust me, it will still be after
the creation of ART..
right now, I am listening to jazz, Earl Klugh...and I know
that evil exists, right outside of my door... I too am
concerned with that evil.. but occasionally, occasionally
it won't kill you to see the lightness and beauty of the world
in music or literature, every once in a while....
find beauty in existence... at the darkest times, and be the one
who lights a light instead of cursing the darkness...for trust me,
cursing the darkness is an common enough pastime in the world today....
but who, who exactly lights a light to see where we are
and where we might go? to see our possibilities individually
and collectively... be that person who lights a light....not
curse the darkness....

my own hero would be the person who at the end of the world,
second away from the end of existence for all human beings, AND
they crack a joke...finding lightness even in the face of complete
and total darkness... that is the person I want to be....

I just want to die in the right way in the right circumstances, etc..(whatever they may be). I hope end-of-the-world scenarios never come into being. There are no "heroes" if humans are gone. Only dead bodies (many of which stood by and did nothing if not aid the process).Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 5:44 pm my own hero would be the person who at the end of the world,

it is clear that you are weighed down by the heaviness of
existence... my cure... watching doggie video's or if you prefer,
kitten video's... bring some lightness into your life.. watch the sunset,
listen to the birds sing... look at your significant other and
feel the wonder of love..... read a poem.. not because it is
a important poem, but because who today, read poems?
and if you are like me, Artistically challenged, listen to music
that allows your soul to sing.. or if you can, paint or draw or
create a song.... find, seek out the lightness of existence...

I saw a doggie video that Seeds posted, I've seen kitten videos, I've seen sunsets, heard birds singing, watch my mother and write poetry on some occasions. Did you know I have a book of poetry for only $15 on Amazon?Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 6:06 pm it is clear that you are weighed down by the heaviness of
