U know what's so great about that song Gorilla In Gnawa? I'll tell u. It's the percussive effects. They mimic the suspenseful sound of what could be associated with an approaching gorilla. The breaking twigs under his feet... the slow, stealthy movement... parting the brush to peer at u, etc. That little miniature high-hat (sounds like one anyway) he's abruptly closing, the subtlety sneaking congas behind the drum beat, and those little horn voicings... bro all of that is so cinematics and well done. I dunno who the fuck UHHO UHHO UHHO is but I'm fixin to find out. Check the phewsion playlist for updates. If they got more good shit, imma find it.

... and that stand up bass expresses the sheer size of the beast. Now what's cool is when the horn melody begins the mood changes from suspicion and danger to one of easiness as the beast disregards the encroaching people and continues eating leaves (or whatever) as they watch, marveling at its majesty.
That's the one with the horrible major change tho so only the first minute or so is good.

And I can tell u why that one by Angelyne is so good and it's not why u think. I wonder if they even did it like that on purpose.
You hear that annoying four note synth voice sample thing over and over for exactly two minutes and twenty two seconds at which time you're so relieved to hear it stop, what follows, the vocals and main groove, sounds that much better. It's like a sweet surprise right when you're like damn is this gonna be through the whole fuckin song. But they did it right. They used that to extend the song by eventually dropping it and getting to the groove.

^^^ When u could be a group of musically talented dorks who didn't do drugs, didn't fit in with any subculture and liked to passive-aggressively critique social and political ideas through satire on stage that would sometimes become silly in the way that dorks get to comfortable and confident with themselves and go too far trying to be funny or offensive and it becomes excessive rather than clever and intelligent.

Spoiler alert. When Studebaker Hawk tries to draft Billy and threatens Ethel, Billy laughs, sending Studebaker Hawk hundreds of feet into the rubble below.
