Wasps cannot suffer, I know this from testing. They never scream.
Re: What are the Noblest human endeavors?
We are evolved to eat meat, and that is exactly what I am going to continue to do.
I would, however, favour grass fed, raised naturally.
There is nothing wrong with this.

Suffering is part of nature.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 11:58 pmThe intentional relief of suffering or the minimization thereof of all living creatures. Nature cares not for the suffering of life, only life itself has that capacity.
TO eliminate suffering would have to include eliminating nature itself.
We can alieviate some suffering by caring for our lifestock and killing them humanely; providing them shelter, and veternary care.

So that's it...? No Nobility?
I suppose it makes sense, seeing how this Postmodern Era is ending all conclusions of its Western Liberal Enlightenment phase.
No Nobility, nothing in life worth fighting for, nothing in life worth dying for. No Tomorrow. Nothingness, Nihilism.
That said, looks like I'll stand alone in Defiance against you all.

Yes, suffering is part of life, life is suffering among other things. I agree with the above, life lives on life, but killing can be done in the more merciful way. Factory farming is the opposite of merciful farming, and I think we pay an unknown price for the inhumanity of it all.Sculptor wrote: ↑Wed Aug 09, 2023 12:07 pmSuffering is part of nature.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 11:58 pmThe intentional relief of suffering or the minimization thereof of all living creatures. We can alleviate some suffering by caring for our livestock and killing them humanely; providing them shelter, and veterinary care.

Meanwhile I still need my meat to live.
I am very concerned with how the meat is produced.
IN the UK lamb and beef are not made in factories, and animal welfare is protected by laws.
There is a move towards factory meat - expecially chicken and pork, but alternatives are available.
Generally it is in the interests of the farmer to care for their animals well.
I see sheep everyday on my walks and they are happy and healthy. I'm happy to eat them knowing that they have not suffered.

I am a meat eater as well, and agree with the humane farming of livestock.Sculptor wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 11:58 amThen don't eat that stuff.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 10, 2023 11:45 amYes, suffering is part of life, life is suffering among other things.
