Is The Olympics Relevant Anymore?

Post by Gary Childress »

What if--instead of a 100-meter dash, javelin throw, or whatever--they had events such as how to fix a car engine of a vehicle that was actually broken down or building a shed someplace where one was actually needed and scored the winner based on who accomplished the task "best" (scored by judges in terms of time efficiency, aesthetic qualities and wastefulness of available resources, etc)? Instead of purely athletic events, they could substitute a beauty pageant and erotic dancing.

Maybe throw in a zen competition where monks are scored on who gets flustered and frustrated by the other first.

What was it ever 'relevant' to? It's entertainment. That's it.

You are confusing the Olympics with a strip club. 20 years ago I would of said let's go, but now I just see some girl awkwardly nude with a drinking problem and I just want to help her get her GED. A naked teenage girl isn't as erotic to me as it once was, and a 30 year old with Ceasarian scars and pregnacy stretch marks even less so. No gold medals for those sluts. Shed sounds useful.

At least learn to spell and use English before you post your repulsive comments. How about putting up a photo of your perfect self then? Most women don't enjoy full body fur in a man.

You know what.... there should be a charity out there training strippers to build stuff. They can become carpenters, learn a trade. Send them to third world crisis areas to build.

We can also thin out the Olympics a bit. What's up with Curling? How is that even a sport?

Olympics needs a reset.

Males only, we can start with Wrestling, Track, and Field, cut all "judging" "sports", and work up from there. Maybe keep the competitions under a couple dozen varieties.

No "Winter Games".

How do we know who wins if we don't judge?

Do you like to watch men rolling about on the floor, tightly gripping onto each other; all sweaty and out of breath?

It's fine if they say no homo.

Or you never know, he might mean WWE wrestling. That's about as real as most of the other stuff he believes in.

The Olympic Games IS relevant in so far as witnessing human sporting endeavor, their attempt to be the best in their choice of sporting achievement when pitted against others in the same chosen sport.

The Commonwealth Games similarly, but now Dan Andrews has dropped out the state of Victoria citing costs where money could be better spent in areas such as a housing shortage.

...and...now it seems Canada has dropped its bid for the games in the coming years. Seems the world has better places for investment than watching humans in large sporting arenas supporting narcissists in their quest for a gold medal, just because they were a little faster, a little tougher than the others.

It only seems unordinary becuz it's not a popular sport, but really if u think about it, all sports are rather odd ideas that had to start somewhere with someone asking 'how is that even a sport?'

Sports with balls. Any of em. U either hit/kick the ball, put the ball somewhere, catch the ball, carry the ball or kill the guy with the ball

All this is very odd and only feels normal becuz it's been around for so long. Consider golf. The very idea of it. You're gonna make a little two inch hole in the ground on a twenty acre plot of land. Now go wayyyyy the fuck over there and see how many times u gotta hit this little ball to get it in that hole.

Golf is the very epitome of gross bourgeois indulgence. Just the necessary size of a golf course alone is an affront to the proletariat. All that land so those three rich white persons can dig a hole in the ground and tryda hit a little ball into it. I can think of nine thousand better things to do with that land and those rich white persons.

I'm proletariat but never a Marxist, could care less about golf. This means I tolerate it. Especially when it is made accessible and not in exclusive clubs. If people want to play it, and if land and resources are not a pressing matter, let them play. But they should say No Homo in the locker room afterwards. Cause it is still fucking gay, even when tolerated and sometimes encouraged as stress relief for those who find it relaxing.

"I'm proletariat but never a Marxist"

And that's fine. Marx wasn't a Marxist either, just a working man like yourself doing journalism and writing for news papers.
