however, is Christianity Philosophically True?
[/quote]
i would have to provide the answer, yes.
psalms and proverbs both have countless ethical ways and sufficient moral groundings on how one should live their life. Whether be Christian or other, many versus of the great book hold foundations on a recognized "Good" behavior in a day to day life.
so yes i believe that Christianity is Philosophically true.

(and this comes with the risk of seeming hypocritical about the situation, for I enjoy the taste of bacon as much as henry no doubt does)

Again, I get it that bacon is tasty stuff. However, to ask the question...
"...What is currently unethical about meat production?..."
...in a way that seems to imply that the asker of the question sees nothing unethical in the factory farming of highly intelligent creatures,...
...presents us with a clear demonstration of just how relative and subjective human ethics (and empathy) can be.
Indeed, it leaves one with a possible insight into how some humans can become serial killers.
Or how soldiers...

Too late! I grabbed a 20 lb. sledge hammer and annihilated the little fucker! I don't put up with rebellious domestic automata!henry quirk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 6:14 pm Mebbe it could (z)enroll in your on-line course and get its head straight.
But *it* took it like a man. No crying, no pleading.
*It* did say however, and I was moved for a moment, "Please, I need to live ..." and when I asked it why it said "for true love".
It evidently had been watching The Princess Bride!
But when I imagined it carrying on a mechanical romance with a Roborock S7 that's when I let him have it.
Re: Christianity
There's no anthropomorphizing in knowing - not speculating but knowing - that higher level mammals of which we are one possess a nervous system very similar to ours. If that weren't true they wouldn't be as trainable as they are which obviously requires an "intelligence" capability not to mention all the lives dogs, for instance, have saved in warning their master of danger quite independent of any kind of training.henry quirk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 2:08 pmSo it doesn't matter what consciousness is or where it comes from: as long as you can anthropomorphize the chicken or dog or flatworm you ought to treat it with respect, extend to it some measure of 'rights'.
All life has a huge affinity with each other emanating from a common source so much so even a tree can read 50% of your DNA!
To repeat: You're the one who's doing all the anthropomorphizing in still believing anything so absurd that humans are made in the image of god! What a stupid, fucking travesty of a thought that is!
There's also a kind of morality question implied in this whole discourse of animal and human rights in relation to a supposed supreme being:
Why should god as such have any respect for humans if humans themselves have no regard or respect for that which likewise exists below them? Why expect god to fill a gap humans historically have always denied to others?
The "only" rights you ever talk about are what you incessantly regard as your own based on some idiotic idea of free will whatever the hell that means. If Trump re-assumes the Presidency - an absolutely hideous thought - prepare to give up most of it.

Let's see...
We got the they're just like us! argument; the they love us! argument; you still don't know what anthropomorphize means; you still think made in His image refers to appearance; you dismiss human exceptionalism; you dismiss free will; you dismiss moral fact; and ORANGE MAN STILL BAD.
Yep, pretty much what I'd expect from a self-hating, necessitarian, who, only a little while back, wanted unruly types like myself sent to the camps for refusin' to mask up, lockdown, and get jabbed.

Before “it” was annihilated “it” said “Fuck y’all! I’m voting for Trump!”
I smashed it impulsively and then resmashed the electro-bits … then I ran over the bits with one of our Mercedes.
But what did “it” mean?!? Why?!?
I’ve been thinking about this for hours now and I can’t figure it.
I may have killed a Prophet!

Re: Christianity
That we are "made in his image" states exactly what has always been denoted as us being in the image of god throughout most history in whatever form, painting, sculpture, etc,…except when god is in the image of an animal. Give yourself some credibility and correct me on what "made in his image" actually means since the word "image" is the key word here and of whose meaning I'm well aware?henry quirk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 11:40 pmLet's see...

Re: Christianity
It would be interesting to know if this makes sense to anybody. How would god, the creator of the universe be anything like a "free will person" and what has that to do with us being in his "image" which denotes representation? Free will in any case is an "indexed entity". A billionaire has much more "free will" as his command than a pauper whose options are much more limited.henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 1:07 amIt's like talkin' to age.
Anyway, as I said, up-thread: we're 'in His image' becuz, like Him, we're free wills, persons.
Kinda hard to capture that on a canvas or in stone, hence artistic license.
God doesn't need free will; his will is already omnipotent.
I honestly don't get it; your explanation is simply a repeat of the same phrase explaining nothing!
What means "free will" according to your reckoning? What powers does it have; what does it include?
