So Racism is a problem only if CNN, BBC, MSNBC says so? That doesn't make any sense.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:16 amHe was kind of asking for it when he posted a link to a site like Breitbart. What next? Stormfront? Or doesn't that exist any more?

I'm a Philosopher. I can criticize every tribe on this planet with impunity.FlashDangerpants wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:45 amIs there a special "question" of this tribe you fear? Perhaps Kanye would know?
Re: Racism
I don't think any group has escaped public criticism in one place or another.Wizard22 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:42 amI think the problem is that some tribes want to shame others for being 'Racist', while they practice it with impunity, a clear double-standard.Maia wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:22 amIt's clearly a product of the very well known human instinct for tribalism, forming groups of them and us, gifted to us by evolution. The good news, though, is that while we can't change human nature, and nor would we want to, we can change, by a process of natural development, the definition of what constitutes one's tribe. In the earliest days of hunter gatherers it was the family unit. Later, with more settled, agricultural populations, came larger units, the actual tribe. Later still, with the rise of civilisation and better methods of communication, it was the nation. We are still in that phase, I think, though very gradually moving to the next logical phase, which is to encompass the whole human race within one's tribe. Maybe we'll do it in stages before reaching that end.
That's a gross simplification, of course. The same instinct, for example, has also led to stratification within societies, forming a class structure, and all the other divisions we experience.
History also tells us that an external threat does wonders to speed things up.
Which tribes are you not allowed to criticize publicly?

Re: Racism
Question asked and aswered then.
Well done mister philosopher, you have proven your own problem doesn't exist.
Re: Racism
It doesn't exist for me.FlashDangerpants wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:49 amQuestion asked and aswered then.
Well done mister philosopher, you have proven your own problem doesn't exist.
But it does exist for others, hence why I asked Maia. Keep up with the conversation.
Re: Racism
Those groups that have been historically persecuted or exploited tend now to have legal sanctions against such criticism or discrimination.
Re: Racism
Yes, "those groups", have special protections...
...like them being allowed "to be racist", but not have racism directed toward them.
Hence the replies in this very thread.

That's not what I said. Breitbart isn't a reputable or reliable source of information by ANY standard. It's full of bullshit.Wizard22 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 9:46 amSo Racism is a problem only if CNN, BBC, MSNBC says so? I haven't read Breitbart or Stormfront, so you're the expert on those.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 10:01 amThat's not what I said. Breitbart isn't a reputable or reliable source of information by ANY standard. It's full of bullshit.
So is this discussion invalid, and we can't discuss Racism on the political-Left now?

Re: Racism
I don't think it's that easy.
Politically powerful groups do not cease their immorality and double-standards upon request. The tend to only revise their behaviors when forcefully rebuked. It's very limited what Reason can do against opposition.
Re: Racism
Just try and ignore it, and live your life.
