Then you would be lying about "loving everyone equally"
If you do nothing to prevent your family from being murdered then it sure seems you love the murderer more than you love your family.
Then you would be lying about "loving everyone equally"
Okay.
WHEN is VIOLENCE EVER, SUPPOSEDLY, NEEDED?
We AWAIT to AEW IF you WILL EVER ANSWER my QUESTIONS here.
Correct; I don't consider that a meltdown.Skepdick wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 9:54 amSo you don't consider your pejoratives and metaphors as comparing gun ownership to "childish play"; the casual dismissal of the idea; or in general the sort of behaviour that stigmatises guns and gun ownership and makes the topic a social taboo as a meltdown?
I'm not a virtue signaler nor a pacifist. I'm just someone who realises there is a difference between the exciting, shoot-anything-that-moves world of TV cops and robbers, and the real world of what a bullet entering a human body looks like. The sort of virtue signaling that equates civility with passivity?
I don't buy the attitude you are conveying either, and I do wonder why you are conveying it.Harbal wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:17 am I'm not a virtue signaler nor a pacifist. I don't buy your gung-ho attitude towards the issue, anyway. It wouldn't surprise me if you'd never touched a real gun.![]()
That's like saying is it a legal requirement that everyone should arm themself with a gun to protect themselves from the lawless. As if owning a gun is some kind of insurance policy that unless you have a gun to protect yourself from the lawless, then it's your own fault that your personal life and everything that you deemed beloved in your world has turned to shit for not owning a gun. We simply don't have such laws like taking out insurance plans in the form of personal gun owning self-protection schemes, else your on your own, and ain't no one else going to protect you from lawless behavior available in the UKSkepdick wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 9:57 amGreat! So if the members of your society are so civil and reasonable why do you need any laws against gun ownership?Dontaskme wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 9:53 amYes it is a nice society where I live, where grown ups are not shy in taking responsibilty for their own self by understanding is it wrong to be hostile to another person, or make another kid an orphan in favor of their own kids chance of survival, and that it's just plain wrong to kill other people. They simply don't need some thing called a ''gun'' to protect them from the big bad evil world of do unto others what they intend for you before they get in first. They know how to cooperate with other people in a civilised way without resorting to violence and mass killing sprees.
It's nothing like that. You live in a civil and reasonable society.Dontaskme wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:26 amThat's like saying is it a legal requirement that everyone should arm themself with a gun to protect themselves from the lawless. Yes it is a nice society where I live, where grown ups are not shy in taking responsibilty for their own self by understanding is it wrong to be hostile to another person, or make another kid an orphan in favor of their own kids chance of survival, and that it's just plain wrong to kill other people. It's not like we are against guns, we just dont see them as a necessary object to have in one's life in order to feel safe that's all. I mean it's not like they are banned, or against the law to own, because anyone can own a gun here, but people choose not to, because people here do not feel as though their life is under threat everytime they leave their front door. And that is why there are less mass shootings here in the UK than there are is the US, simply because there are less gun owners to carry out these mindless attacks.
There is no force on earth to stop the lawless from being lawless. But gun ownership is not the answer, it's a false sense of security that only perpetuates the fear of living in a lawless society. And that is why we make laws to protect ourselves from our irrational false sense of securities.
YES, but doing so would just be taking 'this' FURTHER DOWN SOME SIDE TRACK.
SO WHAT?
Okay, but so what?
That's so American.Wizard22 wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:24 am
I feel that the 2nd Amendment of the United States is sacred—as Tyrants and Fascists around the world want to deprive Americans of our Right to self-defense.
It's a slave-morality, wanting to disarm others because you-yourself have been disarmed. Just because you have given-up your Sovereign Rights to defend your own life, doesn't mean that everybody else should, or that it's something to be Proud about.
The entire distincton between government (protectors) and people (protected) is bogus.Wizard22 wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:31 am And yet the alternative is depending upon the effectiveness and efficiency of your Central Government, to protect your life for you...
Maybe you don't live in the United States. But there are levels of distrust that are more than warranted.
Until a government proves to a near certainty that they can protect their Citizens (they can't), or that they even care (they don't), then, yes...I'd recommend fellow Americans to strap up.
Not all Americans are rich hoighty toighty liberals with $1,000,00.00 in the bank and walled by gated communities.
Do you have black friends also?Harbal wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:32 amThat's so American.Wizard22 wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 10:24 am

Actually, I have friends in America, and they are not at all like you and your kind, so maybe the place isn't as bad as the impression the rest of the world has of it.
