Originally 'trolling' came from the fishing term.

Trolling is a method of fishing where one or more fishing lines, baited with lures or bait fish, are drawn through the water.

The bait being some immflamatory post to bait enraged responses.
Then the 'troll' aspect got heightened: dangerous and stupid creature.

But good old DS is making the metaphor quasi-literal. He's trolling for devotees, dangling these posts in PN waters.

Perhaps he'll haul Walker onto his boat and pilot away.
