America, indeed the entire world has problems,
from climate change to income inequality to over population
to economic chaos...let us take one such problem in the U.S...
Immigration... the conservatives keep talking about how the
democrats are allowing "open borders" and allowing thousands
of immigrants into America.....and their "solution" if one can
call it that, is to close the borders, end all immigration into
the U.S...but this very narrow and short sided solution,
doesn't actually solve the problem of immigration....any type
of solution must take into account the actual problem... the why?
Why are millions on the move all over the globe? Any solution must
begin there... why are people immigrating? to be blunt, their
home country sucks...and not worth staying in...any type of solution
of solution to the massive immigration problem that is worldwide,
must take into account to why there is so much immigration in
the world today....
And therein lies part of our worldwide problem... we are thinking
and creating solutions to problems with ancient solutions..
in other words, we are thinking about our modern,
scientific, technical world with solutions from an age
before science and technology...its like trying to fix a car from
2022 with technology from 1890... it won't work...and it will never
work...
Humans all over the world are struggling with coping with our modern
technical world with thinking that predates the modern technology....
as children, we must think and feel like children... we cannot
think or act like teenagers or adults but as our situation changes,
as we grow older, we adapt new ways of thinking, coping, adapting
to becoming teenagers, young adults, and then finally adults...
and the is true today.. think of our pre-industrial age as our
childhood, and today, today we are in the process of becoming
adults.. and so, we cannot engage in being an adult
with the values and beliefs from childhood...
we moderns are disconnected, alienated, detached.. perhaps
even broken...from the society, the state, even ourselves....
and the right wing, the conservatives call for a return to the times
long gone, to reliving the past.. like adults trying to cope with
the world by trying to relive their childhood... nothing good
can come out of that... and yet they still keep trying to
"return home again" but home, our childhood home is long gone,
dead and buried...we cannot solve our problems, our modern current
problems with solutions that come from the past...
So, if our current problems come from holding outdated beliefs
and values, how can they be possible solutions to the problems
they themselves created... for example, capitalism has created
massive worldwide problems, so how is capitalism supposed to
to be an answer to the problems that it created?
Part of the problem is the fact that we are pursuing the wrong
things...we are engaged in pursuit of the baubles of existence,
money, fame, power, material goods, titles and that pursuit
is in fact, part of the problem of our modern world...
we are engaged in "business as usual" when in fact, we need to
think about the who, what, when, where, how and why of
our modern world.... there is no single solution to our complex
problems...there is no silver bullet that will cure all our ills....
in fact, there is no solution to our complex problems individually,
it will take a worldwide solutions to solve a worldwide problems...
but the first step, as always, is to see that there is a problem..
and for most people, they can't even see that there is a problem
in America and the world at large...
so, use wisdom as the Greeks saw wisdom, which is by unmasking,
by seeing the world as it actually is....not as we hope it to be,
or wish it to be or pray it to be, but as it actually is....
to "see" the world with open eyes, and not with failed
ideologies and isms.....
