Re: Christianity
Either God created the world and made it work the way it does, or he didn't. Neither knowing nor not knowing which is the case will change the world and how it works. There's nothing wrong with contemplating, but I don't see the point in convincing yourself that it matters.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 4:08 pm

Re: Christianity
Then let me straighten you out. The point is elementary, Perfesser.
- The world is in Gary.
- What is in Gary’s noggin affects his actions.
- Actions affect the world.
- Some actions are more significant because like opinions, thoughts, and deductions, not all actions are the same.
- Some actions are good, and some are bad.
- Just because everyone has an opinion, and just because there are lots of everyones, does not make all
opinions … valid.
Did you observe the beauty of this logic?
To help you along with your understanding of the words, because you have oft' mentioned my incomprehensibility, it would behoove you to key in on the first line which states the true premise.
The world is in Gary. On the sad day for all when Gary checks out, the same day that awaits us all, Gary’s world of the body also vanishes.
Whether or not that matters to what he does now is an aspect of the world within Gary, that affects his actions.

You're probably right. Hopefully, everyone will sort it out for themselves and leave me out of it. Re: Christianity
Then, care for others. That is an aspect of Christianity. It's the philosophy that empowers the actions of a Christian. Care for others. To say that Jesus was a bodhisattva is not blasphemy when the word is used to describe the workings of intent, in detail.
It's what enables Christians to power through depression.
It's what enables Christians to power through depression.
Re: Christianity
Decent people care for others, it has nothing to do with having a religion. Not all Christians are decent people, and some are downright twats, just like any other random bunch of people.
Re: Christianity
No one is better placed than me to demonstrate the truth of my opinions with supporting evidence, logic, reasoning based on sound premises, and compassion.
There. That's EXACTLY.
And, in the spirit of Christian gratitude, thank you for the opportunity for me to clarify this*, for you, Perfesser Einstein.
You should take that as a lesson and get with the program, namely, awareness of where you are.
* with body (fingers tippy tapping lightly over the keys), with voice (I speak when I type), and with mind (formation of truth into transmission).
Re: Christianity
Therefore, Christians are decent people, because caring for others is an aspect of Christianity.
They should be treated accordingly, and not persecuted.
Re: Christianity
How unfair of them to ruin the symmetry of the Christian narrative.
Bad Christians! Bad! Christianity bad! Bad!
Banish them.
Harbal, someone should tell you, you have to up your game if you want to be a philosopher. Expand your consciousness and your reasoning skills deepen from a higher perspective that makes the horizon larger. I have confidence that you have it in you to do so, because you intend no harm, and that's because intending harm don't smell so good. But you might want to get on with it, the clock is ticking. It says, tick toc.

Apparently, you need to up your game, Harbal, so that you too can sound like a character from Sesame Street.Walker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 25, 2022 5:55 pmHow unfair of them to ruin the symmetry of the Christian narrative.

Re: Christianity
Rubbish! Christians are just people, and they are no better or worse than any other people. Some Christians are horrible people, so being a Christian doesn't, in itself, make someone a good person.
I can't help with that, I don't know anything about the matter. They should be treated accordingly, and not persecuted.
