A question of balance for Dattaswami
A question of balance for Dattaswami
Why are you excessively swamping the forum with hundreds of new preachy topics?
And now you are putting the topic titles in ALL CAPS to gain more attention?
What are you lacking/needing that you must try to fulfill in this way?

Isn't the real question why isn't dattaswami banned for off topic bullshit spam yet?

Re: A question of balance for Dattaswami
In one of his posts he attributed bravery and a broad mind to himself, so I asked him in about 15 threads the following.....
His response was something like....'I agree with you completely.'Do you have the courage to consider that the way you are approaching people here is disrespectful?
To wonder if perhaps lecturing people and starting dozens of threads, often in subforums where they do not belong, might be rude and even counterproductive for your own goals?
Do you have a broad enough mind to consider that your own psychological needs might be determining how you approach people and even seem to not really care about their reactions and interests?
Do you have the courage to focus on discussing your ideas rather than vomiting them out, especially given that this is a discussion forum and not a blog?
How did you decide you had courage?
How did you decide you have a broad mind?
Have you decided that you have courage and a broad mind and will never reevaluate?
Can you take feedback and criticism into account and perhaps adjust or even more deeply change your approach to other people?
Is it possible that you think you are sharing good and lovely truths, but actually for you psychologically it is a way for you to feel special and even dominate others?
Could both be true?
What might be a better way to interact with people, one that would show them that you consider them at least potential equals not just receipients of your knowledge?
And he then happily continued to do the same thing.
Re: A question of balance for Dattaswami
- The real intent of this thread is to stop dattaswami from doing what he is doing.
- In this instance, given the limitations of your authority, influence, and power, you cannot effectively speak as an elevator inspector when the elevator is not elevating you.
- You can only air your complaints, and you can do that either effectively, or ineffectively.
- This is the situation. How to deal with it?
- I say, why not make it interesting.
- The compassionate, civilized, conceptual approach is to persuade dattaswami rather than humiliate him, or try to.
- Rather than pepper him with questions, make a case for why your questions are legitimate.
- How to do this?
- Artistically, appeal to emotions.
- Spiritually, explain why he is crushing your spirit.
- Logically, appeal to his sense of compassion.
- Appeal to his sense of fairness, and his sense of purpose, and why his actions are hurting you.
- In other words, tell him what his postings are doing to you personally, and why as a principle this is cause for him to stop.
- Tell him why he is the cause of your experience.
- Tell him why you are not the cause of the experience-effect upon you.
- If you do these things from the heart, that should do the trick.
- If it doesn't, then to further pursue your intent of stopping dattaswami, or changing dattaswami's actions, then you can do nothing else but make your case to the authorities.
- You could also keep asking questions and complaining over and over, hoping that will change things when it hasn't before.

Re: A question of balance for Dattaswami
By golly, you just inspired a thought worthy of ... word of the day.
(I will soon edit this with a link, so suppress your chuckles for just a little pause ...)
(It's actually a short contemplation, already made, and fingers walking on the keyboard in organized patterns will be part of the transmission of the contemplation, and thus can be said to be the effect of the contemplation.)

That's right! Throwing a few tomatoes might get the attention of someone who is clearly being too self-involved to be reasoned with. We're all on a stage here anyway!

By golly, you just inspired a short poem, right from the aether. Amazing.
(link to soon follow, after it's written.)

The question is, is it bot worthy?

A lack of new disciples should wither this eventually on the vine of his hopes. He's not like Roydop who gets off, I think, on resistance. Or Age and Advocate who pretend not to care.

You seem to know his aim, perhaps you're right.Iwannaplato wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 3:05 pmA lack of new disciples should wither this eventually on the vine of his hopes. He's not like Roydop who gets off, I think, on resistance. Or Age and Advocate who pretend not to care.
I think an ideal practice to balance the wordiness is to limit the word count for each posting, perhaps to 50 to 100 words.
The drawback is, although that limitation is not as restricting a frame as a six-word posting, it would be trending towards the short, tidy and smug meme form.
100% reading of a little, is better than 0% reading of a lot.

Well, it's not for philosophical discussion and this is not the only discussion forum he's filling.
These orgs need new blood for work and money and then simply the desire to spread his memes. You keeping that semen in the spine, it's the only thing like procreation.....
