The future looks good - or bad?

Re: The future looks good - or bad?
Oh dear.
Hair-splitting is not going to encourage me to use my time in discussion with you.
The phrase you used was..
specifically an almost limitless supply of it and at zero cost. I have a 100-200 year perspective.
I dread to ask what a 1 -2 hundred year perspective is.
Re: The future looks good - or bad?
I'm not interested in silly debates with you, so you'll have to keep looking for someone else to engage.
My previous posts explain why my perspective is 100-200 years. Read them before you respond. The phrase you used was..

Big Mike, I apologise. I 'll be more careful to read the relevant posts.
PS I have looked and I see it's a video. I dislike videos in discussions, seldom look at them, and that may be why I missed your post.

Yes.
The future is good and bad.
The future is good and bad.

It's not yet commercially viable not even as much so as earliest day of wind turbines.Sculptor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 1:25 pmLet us not hold our breath.Belinda wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 12:51 pm Big Mike, I apologise. I 'll be more careful to read the relevant posts.

Re: The future looks good - or bad?
Some scientists think it will take about 30 years to do fusion on an industrial scale, which is pretty good and well within my 1-2 hundred year scope.Belinda wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 1:27 pmIt's not yet commercially viable not even as much so as earliest day of wind turbines.Sculptor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 1:25 pmLet us not hold our breath.Belinda wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 12:51 pm Big Mike, I apologise. Concerning space-based solar power, which is a much better understood technology, I stated yesterday that "it is possible to put huge solar panels in orbit around the earth and send the energy wirelessly to the earth's surface, using microwaves or laser beams, but it is not cost-effective to do so right now. That is, the current price of energy is too high right now.
But once a few solar panels are set up, the energy they produce can be used to pay for the installation of more panels in a way that grows exponentially over time. Soon, we could be flooded with free energy, and having the ability to ramp up production as needed."
