That's not exactly what the video says. It says that successful women reach an age where their prior successes are not enough for current happiness. They feel the need for more. They need to do other things than what they've been doing in order to be fulfilled, and it's a biological need fueled by the question, why am I doing what I'm doing? But, humans are complex and able to supplant one need with another, should a child be a limitation, for whatever reason.
The lie that'll destroy women for generations

Re: The lie that'll destroy women for generations
While there are always exceptions, and that's absolutely fine, the fact is that the overwhelming majority of women want to have kids. This is simple biology, or nature, if you prefer, which is certainly nothing to be ashamed about. On the contrary, this is to be celebrated. This is also why the modern trend to try and deny any inherent differences between men and women actually amounts to an attack on women.

Humans don't even make very good parents. Look at all the child abuse. Just about every day I read about some poor little kid who's been brutalised and tortured to death by those who are supposed to protect him. Imagine what that must be like for a trusting little child. Most people shouldn't even have children. Bears are much better mothers, so are chimps--far more attentive and gentle than human mothers for the most part. Many human mothers put men way before their children, men who aren't the parent of their children and are often a huge danger to them.
Re: The lie that'll destroy women for generations
That may well be true, but these are societal issues. Society itself needs reforming root and branch.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 7:55 am Humans don't even make very good parents. As an aside though it's worth pointing out that some mammals, such as rodents, eat their offspring in times of food scarcity.

They must be anti-choice. Better to eat your babies than abort them...Maia wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 7:59 amThat may well be true, but these are societal issues. But speaking of that, 2 points. One, this is the 50th anniversary of that rugby (?) team that crashed in the Andes and had to revert to cannibalism (or so the random news blurb on some website said), which is a great movie btw. Actually spiritual, about the will to survive.
Second point is that meme. That meme that sums up an entire philosophy for some folks. My Body, My Choice.
I've been thinking about that meme as it applies to abortion.
Each body has it's own type of blood. An indicator that a body is not your body, is that it has another blood type than your blood, although it may also have the same blood type. Therefore, because a foetus may have a different blood type than the mother, My Body My Choice is a non-sequitur when it comes to abortion.
This reasoning is sound, don't you think?

The two things are pretty much morally equivalent, I would say.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 8:10 amThey must be anti-choice. Infanticide is an ancient practice that gradually became increasingly frowned upon as we became more civilised. And yet abortion has become increasingly common. There's no real difference, in my opinion.Walker wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:00 amBe nice.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 8:10 am

No, it isn't. And I'm not going to discuss abortion with american religious fuckheads. Fuck off to your icky huge family and hideous wife and children who should have been aborted.Walker wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:00 amvegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 8:10 am

If by moron you mean someone who doesn't agree with killing babies, then it's a title I proudly accept.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:19 amThen you are an even bigger moron than you have appeared to be so far.Maia wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:09 amInfanticide is an ancient practice that gradually became increasingly frowned upon as we became more civilised. A bit of self awareness goes a long way.Maia wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:24 amIf by moron you mean someone who thinks cannibalising and murdering and torturing your children is the same as terminating an unwanted pregnancy, then yes, I will gladly accept that title.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:19 amThen you are an even bigger moron than you have appeared to be so far.

I think it's possible to judge a person's capacity for empathy and imagination by the tone of their conversation.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 12, 2022 9:27 amFuck off you crazy bitch.
