another side of PC
so in thinking about PC
In thinking about PC in regard to higher education...
the decades long fight over the "dead whites guys"
of education....that higher education was in fact a study of
"dead white guys" or can you say Socrates or Hume or Newton
Spinoza or historical studies of more "dead white guys" like
Louis XIV or Peter the Great or literary studies of more "dead white guys"
like Hugo or Dostoevsky or Hemingway...
Higher education was the study of "dead white guys"
but the question PC types ask, should higher education just be
a study of "dead white guys?"
PC in higher education wants to study more than just "dead white guys"
what about women or minorities or gays? Shouldn't we study them as well
with the intensity of our study of "dead white guys?"
So this brings about its own problems.... for example, do we study
such gays as Wittgenstein or Frederick the Great or even Alexander
the Great in the light of their being gay or do we study them
as is? For quite clearly our sexual orientation plays a role in who
we are and what we do.. How much focus do we place into such
matters as one's sexuality?
And bringing us to these questions is the PC part of education...
for those who argue against PC, are in fact arguing for higher
education to be about the study of ''dead white guys"...
It was the actions of the PC that has brought higher education to
the study of women, gays, people of color.. so in stopping the PC,
should we then return to the "good old days" of basing our
education on the study of "dead white guys?" or do we broaden
our higher educational system studies to include people
besides "dead white guys?"

Why do you keep making threads about PC when you obviously don't have the intelligence to understand what it is?
What a racist twat you are. You had better stop using your computer because a 'dead white guy' invented it.

Sadly the answer today from many on the Right is a resounding no. Teaching dead white guys the way we have helps young white men and boys to become proud of their heritage at the expense of women and all minorities, as the proud boys woul have it.Peter Kropotkin wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 5:13 pm so in thinking about PC

Re: another side of PC
'' Ok. So this is where we are,… Going after Beethoven. Very nice. But why stop yourself short? I agree with you that Beethoven is a 'nobody' in the fight for Woke-ness. Honestly, the biggest tool used in history to further white supremacy is basically the English Language. Invented by white People, both in written and spoken format, to exclusively further their domination on the surrounding world. So if you are truly fair in your fight, and not a hypocrite, you should stop speaking and writing English this 'Tool for Supremacy' Immediately. And actually you should do your research and find out which cars were built and invented by white people. I am pretty sure BMW, Bentley and Mercedes were invented and built by white people. So you should stop driving those immediately. Also you can research the house you live in,…if it was built by white people, you should just Get Out in protest. If you have an air conditioning unit, please turn it off. Also please stop wearing pants. Pretty sure I am, that those they were invented by white people. You probably can get away with wearing a dress and sandals. Also you cannot listen any more to music with violins, pianos, guitars and most instruments other than drums. Please do Not watch movies or take any pictures. Also, pretty sure I am, that even the Internet would be Off limits for you if Your Protest would be Validated in an Honest manner. Maybe then you can somehow explain and Argument and your Theory better that way. If you keep using the same tools that the White Man used to establish his White Supremacy, you are nothing but a Hypocrite and a Liar. Because you cannot say to yourself in good conscience: “I am use the tools A, B and C used by White Supremacists but I am not going to use tools D, F and G because I do not like them.” See, I tried to sympathize with Halle Berry when she cried at the Oscars (White Supremacy prize invented by white people to be awarded to other white people to further their Supremacy.) and she said: ” There are just not enough screenplays for black women in Hollywood.” but she had me lost at the three P.s,…. a Pen and a Piece of Paper. That’s all it takes to write a screenplay. So she probably wanted white people to write a screen play for her about How does it Feel to be a Black Woman?! Otherwise they were racist?! Hmmm,…? See, in Life, you cannot have anal and oral sex and still pretend in good faith to be a virgin. You can certainly do it, as you do it in this article, but it is laughable.Nothing but a Cheap Comedy. I would suggest not using any of white people’s stuff anymore. Screw them all together. As soon as you find out it had anything to do with white people, please stay away and Run like hell!! Then I will begin to believe that you are an Honest Human being with a Valid Point of View. You cannot pick and choose what you want to take from the whites and still have a valid argument. Until then,… I will leave you with this. My kids are 7 and 5. They never came from the park and said: “I played with a black girl or a brown boy.”, because kids Do Not See Skin Color. Seeing skin color needs be taught, same as Racism needs to be taught. And basically Racism is nothing other than Differentiating Human Beings based on their skin color. Whoever sees skin color is 100% a Racist On Either Side. And World Culture is like a River that Flows in One Direction. Everybody borrows from the other, as well as from the World Collection, and then they try to improve what they can, and they throw their cup of tea together with the rest to flow down the stream. There is no such thing as Cultural Appropriation,… Only a River of Knowledge that just flows for the Benefit of Humanity as a Whole and for all people to learn, enjoy and progress. Everybody is entitled to Everybody Else’s stuff. Nobody ever invented anything without help from their predecessors. Please compare Tap Dancing with Ancient Irish Folk Dances and you will find out they are very similar. You should not say:” I will use your stuff, but you cannot use my stuff.” because nothing belongs to you. it belongs to Humanity. I am sorry that Cardi B is not Beethoven and I know that upsets you, but all it takes to be Beethoven is just a Pen and a Piece of Paper. Never mind the fact that you already have a head start , since he was deaf. Do not try to bring down the greats because you cannot jump high. It is not their fault how high You jump.''

Re: another side of PC
Let's just stop education altogether, becuase at some point in time it might have involved some pale skinned male humans.
Perhaps you can understand this. PC means 'pitiful c***'. Even your tiny brains should be able to understand that.
The sheer conceit of you, to claim that all human social evolution for the good has come about because of PC.
The PC never do 'anything' positive. Their idea of 'fighting for social justice' is sitting on their fat arses posting death threats to anyone who disagrees with their point of view-- whether or not the opposing view is based in facts and science, or sit on their over paid arses in their uni ivory towers thinking up mischief-making, divisive bullshit like the OP here, to justify their bullshit jobs in various 'studies' departments.
How dare you compare yourselves to someone who stuck his neck out for equal rights and was murdered for his efforts.
How dare you compare yourselves to women who were tortured for demanding that they have the right to vote.
How dare you compare yourselves to someone like Oscar Wilde who faded away and died after being imprisoned for his sexuality.
Barack Obama puts it pretty accurately here (although he says 'verb' when he meant 'pronoun').
I suppose this is beyond your comprehension skills too.

Martin Luther King loved to listen to music composed by 'dead white males' and studied classical music as a child. The PC would say that he should only have listened to African drum beating.

If you’re calling me a moron and a racist, I don’t mind. It’s your prerogative to employ an ad hom whenever you have no better response.
But what I truly wonder is what do you mean by associating racism with my post.
A real answer, please, veg, without sarcasm though you’re good at it. I disagree with you almost always, but I have always respected you.

K: your go-to move apparently is to insult anyone you disagree with...
I actually feel sorry for you... to engage with questions as they are
laid out is a sign of intelligence.. you simply insult people instead of
engaging with the question at hand.... why should we study "dead white guys"
instead of expanding our research into gays, women, people of color?

K: this is a factually incorrect statement..
I listen to quite a lot of classical music, the point is not to dismiss ''dead white guys"
but to listen to all sorts of music.. I listen to Julie Cooper who is a classical
composer in addition to Mozart and Mr. B...I also listen to any type of music
outside of RAP/CRAP and country western music... my own I-tunes list
has people from Mozart to the Beatles to the WHO to the aforementioned
Julie Cooper and Helen Jane Long to Barbara Streisand... I listen to good
music whoever writes it... and that is the point.... its "dead white guys"
and women, gays and people of color...
I think one of the greatest albums of all time is Stevie Wonder's
"Songs in the Key of Life"
and if sent to a deserted island for life and allowed 10 albums to bring,
"Songs" would be one of those albums I would bring... to focus exclusively
on "dead white guys" would mean I would miss the universal album that
is "Songs" It is not one or the other but to give attention to both...
both "dead white guys" and women, gays or minorities...

insult some more.. I see how you believe yourself superior to everyone...
its a clear sign of someone who is very insecure and can't stand even the
possibility of anyone being better/superior to you...
plus your immediate jump to "people" being on the "spectrum"..
classic inferiority complex..
have you considered some professional help? it might help you with your
inferiority complex? Or at least with helping to stop you from insulting
anyone who disagrees with you?
