I don't remember how that went but he's not being tried for refusing to release his tax returns--that I know of. If he broke a law regarding refusing to release his tax returns, he would probably be facing trial for it by now.mickthinks wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 3:43 pm ... he hasn't done anything particularly worse than say, George Bush Jr. or Bill Clinton ...
What? Trump's wrong-doing is off the scale, dude!
Right from the start, when as a candidate he refused to release his tax returns to the voters, as every other candidate has since Carter led the way. Those who had cause to doubt Trump's integrity (lol) were like "Surely he's not going to get away with that?" and those who thought he was great were "What's the big deal? I'm okay with him hiding stuff from us. Why do we have that stoopid rule anyway?"
So, even before he was elected he was up to his neck in treason and corruption.
IIRC, I don't believe it's written into the laws that a president must publicly release his tax returns. It's just a courtesy and tradition among past presidents.
Anyway, you say "Trump's wrongdoing is off the scale" and then proceed to give potential tax evasion as an example. Apparently, we can invade foreign countries resulting in the deaths of many thousands but withholding tax information is an unthinkable crime?

Re: Trump Derangement Syndrome
It was definitely not required of Candidate Trump to release his tax returns for public scrutiny. If he had done so, it might have reassured the public that he was trustworthy or convinced them that he’s not. Not releasing his taxes meant that he was untrustworthy and had no regard for courtesy. Voters then were able to consider or ignore the matter.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 5:17 pmI don't remember how that went but he's not being tried for refusing to release his tax returns--that I know of. Right. Not releasing your tax return is sooo much worse than mass murder, displacing millions of people, and completely destroying entire countries.mickthinks wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 3:43 pm ... he hasn't done anything particularly worse than say, George Bush Jr. or Bill Clinton ...

bro it ain't even about presidents or wokies. Bush and Clinton had fuck all to do with deciding America's involvement in the middle east. they just tow the line for the military-industrial complex lobbiests and investors, sign their name on some executive order and read a teleprompter for five minutes on TV to deliver a false narrative to American people about the reason for our involvement wherever.
y'all got bigger problems than secret email havin' democrats and no tax payin republicans. y'all need to sever the relationship between your government and the private military-industrial companies that profit from war. you can't have a guy knudging a president with his elbow whispering to him how supporting Israel over Palestine would create stronger investment accessibly and opportunity in that region for the U.S. That's poisoning the well and creating ulterior interests. nor do you have a panel of financially connected advisors telling em to invade the middle east to establish democracy in some humanitarian effort to spread stability yada yada. s'bout oil bro. and the nerve to keep up the false narrative when er'body knows it's bullshit.
a president is just a front man. it's just a job. shit maybe five presidents in the last century had as much sense as a Jefferson or a Paine or a Franklin. they're all just ivy league boys or wealthy bourgeoisie populists who have the real mentality and intelligence of a community college graduate, if that.
'anybody can be president' isn't necessarily a good thing i don't think. that can be dangerous. wait a minute why do you people even have such positions as 'president' in the first place? that's grossly hierarchical and perhaps a bit superfluous. i think executive decision making at a government level should be made by groups of collective representatives who act as delegates for entire sectors of the economy and the workers who control those sectors. think hunger games but without the bad guy sutherland and what's her name.

Re: Trump Derangement Syndrome
That sounds like a pretty fair idea (at least at first glance). Just have congress and either water down the powers of the position of president to where s/he does little more than the queen of England for 4 years, or else eliminate the position altogether. We've turned into a rotational monarchy.promethean75 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 9:04 pm i think executive decision making at a government level should be made by groups of collective representatives who act as delegates for entire sectors of the economy and the workers who control those sectors. think hunger games but without the bad guy sutherland and what's her name.

Of course it's the arms industry pulling the strings, lurking silently in the background. But do wokies say anything about that? Of course not. They are too busy virtue-signalling, worshipping the military (because it's not fashionable at this time to do otherwise) and being manipulated by it, and thinking twitter comments make them 'social justice warriors'. It's much easier to constantly find 'offence-on-behalf-of' the latest 'victim group of the month' where none was intended (or even received), than to get off one's fat arse and take risks.promethean75 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 27, 2022 9:04 pm bro it ain't even about presidents or wokies. Trump best expresses the nihilistic drive that is growing in the world.
It is for this reason that it has so much following.
Nihilism is inherent in modern society. It has already proved itself with fascism.
And now it is emerging again and who knows what other devastation it will cause.

The Bible, for example, describes it well. The myth of Adam describes the birth of nihilism.
Re: Trump Derangement Syndrome
Trump is the worst thing that ever happened to America. You should pay attention to the rest of the world who can in fact see the wood despite the trees.
Trump has made the US the laughing stock of the rest of the world. Where he has not invoked humour he has invoked worry. Putting an ape like that in control of the nuclear codes is moronic.
You are suffering from Messiah complex; a sort of blindness by which you fail to see the most basic truths about your messiah.
Well he is not the messiah - he is just a very naughty boy.

No. religions are formed to crush individuality and crush nihilism.
