and to what end?

Post by Peter Kropotkin »

I have been around a long time, and I have seen many a
political campaign, and the basic point is this,

"Elect me and I will solve this problem"

Most political campaigns try to suck in single issue voters..
thus the right wing rhetoric about culture war issues..
but the real issue isn't single issue voters, such as the
Democratic attempt to sell climate change and thus to
liberal/left voters..... each side has a dominate issues that
it tries to sell to those voters...

one aspect missed by both sides, left and right, is this question...
to what end are we working toward? Ok, we end climate change,
and that is a good thing, but to what end? No one talks about
to what end are we attempting to get to? That is the problem with
single issue voters, to what end are we trying to get to? Are we
making a better American? Are we trying to save the world, and why?
In modern day America, (I can't speak for the world, I can only talk about
what I see in America) no one talk about what it is we are trying to do in
the end? what is the point of all this? Why seek justice, for example,
if we aren't reaching for some end game...seeking justice for example,
isn't an end, it is a means to an end.. and what end are we actually striving for?

Let us take another example, conservatives/GOP once took positions, not
insane conspiracy theories, but actual political positions..
for example, the GOP/conservative party actually held the political position
that we do better with less government, than with more... debatable
idea position, but at least it was an idea about what kind of government
we both wanted and needed....but it left out the primary idea needed,
to what end is the value of government? Why have government as opposed to
not having government? What is the point, the end game of having an government?

it isn't about the means, the journey, but it is about what is the destination.
why do we take certain actions but not other actions?
to what end are we trying to get to? and that is the question, not asked...

Why do I spend my live working for pennies on the dollar?
What is the point? What do I get out of it? I have not hidden
the fact that I think capitalism has failed and by holding to this failed
ideology, we damage both our present and our future...
so, I ask, what is the point of the ism of Capitalism?
What is its final goal? Why engage with capitalism instead of
socialism or communism?

According to my handy dandy phone, there are 7 different types
of economic systems... Market economy, planned economy,
centrally planned economy, socialist economy, and communistic
economy...

We say, that the ''Market system" has won the day and all the other systems
are irrelevant or in fact, dangerous... but the question that decides the
answer is actually this, to what end does the means of a market economy get us to?

See there is no end or goal in a market economy.. just more of the same.... buy, buy,
consume, consume.. and to what end? What is the long-term goal of having
a capitalistic society? What is the final point of capitalism? It doesn't seem to
have one... There is no conclusion or end point in the ism of capitalism..

think of it this way... you have a week vacation.... and how do you spend it?
how are you going to go somewhere if you don't have some sort of plan or
some sense of where you are going to go? The wife and I are taking a week
off in Sept.. and we have made the plan of going to lake Tahoe...
and what if we don't make any sort of plan or goal? then we do what?
Do we just get in the car and drive? sort of hoping we get somewhere?
or do we have a destination in mind, do we plan a goal to reach?
and that is what most people do.. they decide to go somewhere
and then reach a plan to get to their goal...and that is what is lacking in
America today.. a plan or a goal to reach for and then what plan do
we engage with to reach that goal? to what end are we engaged with
as Americans? To what end are we engaged with as human beings?

And therein lies the failure of capitalism and America today...
we have no goal or even a plan to get somewhere..
we are just aimlessly wondering about...hoping someone will tell
us where to go.... and thus we find the reason that the treasonous
IQ45 has supporters.. his cult believes he has a plan, a goal...
he doesn't.... but like every grifter, he pretends to have a goal,
a plan to achieve.... and even how successful Biden has been,
he still hasn't provided us with a plan, a goal to reach..
tackling single issue problems like the reduction of student loans,
a good idea but where does that achievement leave us?
what is the goal or final point of this? I would, in addition to this,
I would engage in the discussion of what is the point of education.
We get hundreds of thousands of dollars of student loans, ok,
what is the point, the goal of this? To get a better job? to sell our souls
into an ideology/ism that has no point or goal? that seems to be
pretty stupid.. capitalism has not point, no goal outside of
working as long as possible for the benefit of others,
and we get pennies for our lifelong sweat, blood and tears...

I have worked for almost 45 years, and I have nothing to show for it..
and millions upon millions of people are in the exact same boat...
slave work for slave wages... that is the essence of capitalism..
and what is the point? and that is the question we face...

what is the point of our, mine and yours, existence?
what is/was the goal or point of being?
To what end do we spend 40 plus years working toward?

To this end:

Extending to as many people as possible, and then protecting, the right to *life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

* Jefferson's familiar formula might be improved by a little tinkering around the edges, but I think he got it about right.
