Cognition is the emergent attribute of cognitive complexity. It is the capacity to introspect.
Reason is the emergent property of cognitive complexity.
There is also a vast layer of unconscious cognition underneath.
Some people have a lot of 'cognitive complexity' but little to no capacity to introspect.
Reason can be seen as 'an' emergent property.
