Only if you include a series of unfortunate events and disappointments.

Don’t overlook the pain that is also part of life.

I would say that living is the perpetual creation of magic societies, the societies coming from human creations.

Although life precursors the spice, life is not only the stone in the stone soup.

Ego and desire are the spice of life that make movement palatable for forms that are designed to recognize and design order, which is evidenced by a natural movement of mind … (keeping in mind that all change is movement and thought is change) … a natural movement to find meaning enough to keep on trudging across the tundra, mile after mile.

Ultimately, life is the natural ordering of all the ingredients in the soup that are added by the quick* and the remembered, resulting in natural, predictable, and repeatable processes that develop and maintain the form, so that the form continues at least until the next generation is on its feet and walking, and beyond that too, seeing as clever folks have both discovered flavorful aging and the preservative qualities of certain ingredients. :|

desire doesn't have to focused on self to be a desire, though it is still one's desire. which could be another subject.

desires unfulfilled or expectations unfulfilled? many have desire without expectation of fulfillment.

its misplaced expectations that disappoint or can case pain (not physical) or embitterment.

So true, so simple, so basic, and such an excellent intellectual portal to advance knowledge further concerning what's happening now *, via experience.

It’s easy to understand need and desire so completely that they become the measure of all things. The simplest method is to simply sit still without moving, without changing what is. Eventually, when the body does move by distracting attention from the purpose of sitting there without moving, then intellectually determine why the body moved. An accurate determination exposes the root of the motive force, which is … drumroll … attachment to desire, desire which is need by any other name.

Attachment unlocks the meaning of what’s happening.

Attachment is the key.

For without that attachment to a desire to change what is, awareness observes all the changes of the body without activating the desire to change, into movement.

Knowing the why of desire, in terms of a choice that has been made, or dare we say free will, is not even necessary for the detachment, and stillness, that results from perfectly balanced equanimity.

This is how that Vietnamese monk self-immolated without moving.
He was not enslaved, by attachment, to a need or desire to move.

All perfectly relevant to living, seeing as how living is motion caused by organic chemical processes.

Reaction or proaction?

When I posted, I meant that a magic society can consist of a mass of data, which has parameters to support the meaning

Living is merely a series of fulfilling of needs. Desires are a luxury.
Where there are no desires, there are no needs. Desires (objectives, goals, ends, and purposes) always precede needs. Where there is no desire, and nothing is aspired to aimed at, nothing is needed. The individual who desires nothing, needs nothing--something is only needed as a means to some end. Nothing is needed if nothing is to be achieved.
