Here's what we're not talkin' about in my neck of the woods...henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 5:29 pm if certain folks here in the states weren't desperate to turn attention away from their own failings, ukraine wouldn't be in the news: it's all misdirection and diversion...well, gee, we sure screwed things up here at home! let's scare the citizens with the threat of sendin' their sons and daughters off to war! we'll get their attention focused over there while we mop up the mess we made here
Beer virus.
Inflation.
Economy.
Canadian truckers.
American truckers.
Durham spotlightin' Clinton and the DNC for spying on ORANGE MAN.
2020 Election shenanigans.
The Affirmative Action SCOTUS nominee.
And last, but not least: China conductin' military exercises in the South China Sea.
Pretty sure in your neck of the woods the dog waggin' has resulted in a similar skew in reportin'.

Re: Ukraine Crisis
There are too many conspiracy fuckwits now, led by the nose by American evangelical 'rapturists', and too stupid to see it. The internet has really highlighted the level of stupidity and gullibility in the human race. The American idiocracy has spread like a plague of locusts over the entire planet now. Anyone who is reasonably intelligent is immediately silenced by wokism, so what's left? Wokies and equally moronic religioturds. Oh joy.

Every one of those topics, with the sole exception of the DNC, has been addressed on CNN, CBS and ABC in recent weeks. People who aren’t in your neck of the woods are talking about more than the Russian invasion.henry quirk wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 12:31 amHere's what we're not talkin' about in my neck of the woods...henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Feb 01, 2022 5:29 pm if certain folks here in the states weren't desperate to turn attention away from their own failings, ukraine wouldn't be in the news: it's all misdirection and diversion...well, gee, we sure screwed things up here at home! let's scare the citizens with the threat of sendin' their sons and daughters off to war! we'll get their attention focused over there while we mop up the mess we made here

Is C-Span focusing solely on the war, or do people where you are just not talking about C-Span?

Since the House Plant's spectacular failure at waggin' the dog resulted in the KGB Agent waltzin' into Ukraine: not so much.
Despite the threat of Atomic Death, and other unintended consequences, Smokin' Joe roundaboutly still got exactly what he wanted: the spotlight offa him.

Have you been brainwashed. American foreign policy has only one purpose, to keep its military/defense/industry financed and prospering.iambiguous wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 7:39 pm What, American foreign policy is different here? It really is based solely on human rights and freedom and justice?

Re: Ukraine Crisis
That's only true of the 115,000, so far, who've had enough sense to leave the Ukraine. The idiots who stay to fight for their government deserve what they get. No doubt they believe like all those that are convinced to sacrifice their life for what they'll never see, that God will bless them.henry quirk wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 8:18 pm What is the most rational and virtuous, uh, philosophical response?
What Ukrainians are doin' right now.
Re: Ukraine Crisis
Here is a PRIME EXAMPLE the SPEED at which, what I have ACTUALLY SAID can be QUICKLY TURNED AROUND and TWISTED.
What has the OBVIOUS Fact that I ask MORE than just ONE question got to do with the Fact that IF 'you', posters, can NOT just answer ONE question (of NO MATTER HOW MANY QUESTIONS) I pose to 'you', then ...
OKAY, IF YOU SAY SO.
Do you expect ANY one to BELIEVE you?
REALLY?henry quirk wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 12:11 amI don't believe you.what 'you' call MY 'off-putting style' was done PURPOSELY
WHO, in what is (wrongly) called "right mind" would write things like; ' 'you', human beings ', ' in the days when this was being written ', and/or ' could NOT YET SEE what thee ACTUAL Truth of 'things' IS, EXACTLY '?
What do 'you' think or ENVISION would be the reason of WHY I write THE WAY I DO?

Re: Ukraine Crisis
From NYT:
'WASHINGTON — When Vladimir V. Putin declared Sunday that he was putting his nuclear forces into “special combat readiness” — a heightened alert status reminiscent of some of the most dangerous moments of the Cold War — President Biden and his aides had a choice.
They could match the move and put American forces on Defcon 3 — known to moviegoers as that moment when the Air Force rolls out bombers, and nuclear silos and submarines are put on high alert. Or the president could largely ignore it, sending out aides to portray Mr. Putin as once again manufacturing a menace, threatening Armageddon for a war he started without provocation.
For now, at least, Mr. Biden chose to de-escalate.'
Putin as Kennedy here and Biden as Khrushchev?

Some bruiser did. I was in the back seat of a taxi, faced with a knife to the throat by the driver. A 38 special easily penetrates a car seat and taxi driver.henry quirk wrote: ↑Mon Feb 28, 2022 3:01 amYes, we know, guy: you'll cut & run at the drop of a hat. Some bruiser sez gimme, and you do.

There's a difference between defense and belligerence. You apparently don't know what it is. You talk tough. I'd like to see you in the clutch.
Only an idiot fights when there is nothing to gain. You can have your bar fights and pretend that's bravery. I regard the one who knows the difference between what's important and what isn't and will make the right choice no matter what anyone else says or thinks about them the truly heroic.
Everyone wonders why the Jews didn't leave those countries during ww2 where the holocaust happened to them. Many did leave, but those who stayed and suffered believed the lie you are spreading--that it's a virtue to suffer and die for something when there is no possibility of winning, and even if you could win, you'd never know or enjoy it. That's not brave, it's stupid and produces lots of widows and orphans.
