When you say; "When you think about it", what does the 'it' word refer to, EXACTLY?simplicity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:10 pm When you think about it, philosophy is no more than a cult of individuals obsessed with trying to make sense out of concepts that have absolutely no basis in Reality [or even in our own personal realities].
For when I think about 'it' the word 'philosophy' just means having the love-of-learning. Which EVERY one of 'you', human beings, HAD at, let us say, BIRTH. But, which 'you' have ALL, very sadly, LOST or are LOSING partly due to a Wrongly formulated and Wrongly called "education-system".
But the ACTUAL Truth of the 'matter' has ALREADY been UNCOVERED, FOUND, SEEN, UNDERSTOOD, COMPREHENDED, and KNOWN, well by some of us anyway. And, contrary to popular BELIEF in the days when this was being written, the Truth of the 'matter' of this had ALREADY been PROVED IRREFUTABLY True.simplicity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:10 pm The chances of anybody getting anywhere close to the truth of the matter is ZERO so why all the fuss about nothing?
This is VERY True.simplicity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:10 pm And really, it seems the vast majority of folks simply long for affirmation of their convoluted take on things.
For example, 'you', "simplicity", are "yourself" longing for affirmation of your own (convoluted) take on 'things' here, correct?
If no, then WHY are you expressing your take on 'things' here?
Your OWN (convoluted) take on 'things' and thus your OWN personal reality here is CERTAINLY NOT ANY thing I would agree with NOR affirm.
So, WHY have you 'joined' this 'cult' then? This is, after all, a 'philosophy forum', which you have 'joined'.simplicity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:10 pm Although perhaps better than other modern cults [e.g., eating, porn, drugs/alcohol, tv, computer games, internet surfing, etc.], it's pretty much a complete waste of time and energy.
Are there NOT 'forums' or 'clubs' where the books or novels that have been read could be discussed, which you could 'join'?simplicity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:10 pm Perhaps we could do each other a favor and pool our collective intelligence to discover an activity a tad bit more productive. Personally, I love to read and consume novels on a regular basis.
If 'trying to make sense of concepts' or 'philosophy', to you, is NOT part of 'learning about an unlimited amount of things', then what is 'it' you have ACTUALLY learned, which was NOT been a 'waste of time', for you?simplicity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:10 pm There are literally thousands of really good/great authors out there and an unlimited amount of things you can learn about [historically and otherwise].
But figuring out HOW the Universe, Itself, ACTUALLY WORKS, only took, literally, a few seconds to do.simplicity wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 7:10 pm What do you people do when you are not figuring out how the Universe works?
OVERCOMING ALL of the False, Wrong, AND Incorrect information that 'you', adult human beings, pass on down to the younger ones, through your BOOKS and WORDS is what takes LONGER, and which is what was REALLY a 'waste of time'.
If 'you', adult human beings, just STOPPED passing on False, Wrong, AND Incorrect information as though it was the True, Right, and/or Correct information, a LONG TIME AGO, then 'you', human beings, would NOT STILL be trying to 'figure out how the Universe works'.
