The question is, does such practices facilitate the optimal survival of the species.

If we look at Nature and all living things, whether they are purely naked or evolved with something to cover their body besides skin, e.g. fur, shell, feathers, etc. the resultant is to optimize their survival in accordance to their current environment.

Had humans evolved like dolphins, whales and the likes in the oceans, then it would have been optimal for humans to be naked and their genitals hidden behind their skin. [it will not optimal for mermen or mermaids to wear clothes that hinder their speed moving in water]

Evidently from our time line of evolution, humans had evolved to wear clothes to optimize their survival, especially when they migrated from the hotter tropics to the colder temperate conditions and the Artic.

Even in the tropics, humans had evolved with something to cover their genitals [since it is external] and vulnerable to be damaged.
Note;
  • The koteka, horim, penis gourd, and Armor Condom is a penis sheath traditionally worn by native male inhabitants of some (mainly highland) ethnic groups in New Guinea to cover their penis.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koteka
There are similar practices among other primitive tribes and it is evidently not for modesty sake but to prevent injury to facilitate survival of the species [re reproductive ability].

So it is human nature within our current state of evolution to wear clothes, at the least to cover the genitals to prevent injuries, etc. thus to facilitate survival of the species.

But note the Normal Distribution [Bell Curve]of the continuum from majority to minority.
It is also a very natural phenomenon of evolution, there will always be a small percentile [3 Sigma standard deviation - 3-5%] of humans who will naturally be different from the majority.
Since wearing clothes is the normal things to the majority, the nudist are the 'natural' exceptional small percentage of humans who prefer to go against the current normal nature.

That's the Philosophy of Naturism [Nudism].

Stop whining and complaining. Just accept people like you are worthless and useless and need to learn how to become a real human being.

Babies might 'think' just being near smelly weird people like 'you', "vegetariantaxidermy", is a nightmare. But, at least, they do not whinge about it.

But unclad humans are less smelly than clad. It is called naturist because people who want to sunbathe and exercise naked often want to feel they are closer to nature than when clad.It is a romantic idea.

Naturists come across as weird and creepy because we are a sexualised society.

You are an odd person. ANd that is a dumb question.
Gee thanks...
So, why does it "worry" you? Is it worry for others, or were you thinking of getting involved?
I was thinking what would happen if it were universalized into a social norm. It's sounds like something only for a few.

If I were you I'd not worry.
If it was universal this would not change the incidence of sexual abuse. It would be more likely to reduce it.
Karahari Bushmen don't bother with clothes except for purely practical reasons. They don't do abuse.

Try a simple experiment involving human smells, and unrestricted fresh air.
Do you actually not know many of today's societies are sexualised?

It wasn't a serious comments and really isn't worth a drawn-out discussion. As for 'sexualisation'; a stupid, meaningless buzzword. 'Today's societies are 'sexualised' '? What' the fuck is that supposed to mean?

Sexualised in the context of men's , women's, and children's genitals and breasts means that these organs are popularly considered to be mainly for sexual titillation and pleasure. Your word "fuck" is apt in this context.

Right. Because humans have never before been interested in sex. Are you suggesting that children are responsible for paedophilia (which has probably existed for as long as there have been humans)?

But all of that makes plenty of sense, to some people.

Let us NOT forget that what may not make any sense, to one person, does NOT necessarily mean that it does not not make any sense, to (any) "others".

Mark Twain said the day is coming when we are all going naked, and when that day comes, we'll laugh ourselves to death.

Go naked. Who cares. It's dangerous, especially around machinery, and you won't have any protection from the elements and it's pretty certain no one else will be able to look at you without laughing, and, if you're a male, where to keep you keys and your wallet?
