Quite honestly, if you attach a label to what is actually a broad range of ideas, you might as well paint a target on them.

And if you don't attach one, you might as well shut up about them. Brands name recognition is a thing...tillingborn wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:25 pm Quite honestly, if you attach a label to what is actually a broad range of ideas, you might as well paint a target on them.

That you think I am "fighting" with you, or that this has anything to do with "agreement" or "disagreement" speak much more to your psychology/framing than mine...tillingborn wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:30 pm You are much cleverer than me and my ego is crushed. Now fuck off and pick a fight with someone who disagrees with you.
Zero-sum thinkers. Not your fault though - Philosophy seems to encourage this mode of thinking.

You cared enough to tell me that you don't care.
And not even a grain of cognitive dissonance. Proud of ya! Keep up the performative contradictions.

Well, you may say so. But I note that you ignore everything Socialism has historically done. In other words, you have no interest in the data.tillingborn wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 10:59 am You clearly have been conditioned to bark like a rabid poodle every time you hear the word 'socialism',
Name one country that Socialism has made happy, free and prosperous. Cuba? Venezuela? The USSR? Cambodia? Zimbabwe? Albania? Romania? Poland? Vietnam? China? North Korea? And how many of them suffered under brutal dictators?
You can see the big pattern, and I can give you tons of such examples. Can you give me one example where the opposite has happened?

You can't judge an ideology as a whole by particular instances that a) did not adhere to any universal understanding or ideology upon which they could be collectively lampooned b) do not represent the current understanding of the ideology c) were majorly effected in every case by forces that had nothing to do with their ideology.
So, STFU about "socialism" already!

When the presentation is a farce, as objections to socialism typically are, the distinction is a necessary evil.

The reason you're not seeing it is because that's not relevant to the point i was making.
