I'm sure Mcclary is knowledgable enough, being a "world class" musicologist. She just shows a complete lack of understanding, nay sensitivity, of the life of Beethoven, his struggle and one really has to wonder at her odd critique to attack possibly the greatest musical genius of all time.

That the Principia is a rape manual isn't simply ridiculous beyond the common normal meaning of the word; it is, in fact, demented and goes to show how absolutely distorted and misdirected the human mind can get. Since comparing any such statement to anything remotely logical is virtually impossible, ridicule, sarcasm, irony are the best retributive means of repudiation. Dawkins himself is a master in using such verbal devices in his commentaries.
