But how can it be that the President praises a mob of criminals? I am an old lady just struggling to understand.

From Trump’s speech:

“I hope so. I hope so because if Mike Pence does the right thing, we win the election. All he has to do. This is from the number one or certainly one of the top constitutional lawyers in our country. He has the absolute right to do it. We’re supposed to protect our country, support our country, support our constitution, and protect our constitution. States want to revote. The States got defrauded. They were given false information. They voted on it. Now they want to recertify. They want it back. All Vice-President Pence has to do is send it back to the States to recertify, and we become president, and you are the happiest people.”

The news went out over the airwaves about that time, from Fox News, that Pence had said in a memo to Congressmen that he wasn’t going to “do the right thing,” as Trump had explained. This information was released just before the count tallies were being recorded, one state at a time. They had just started with Arizona.

This news was instantly made public by the broadcast, about the time people started the walk up to Capitol Hill, so the folks likely arrived angry.

I was watching on the television, and remember.

Apparently the break-in began about the time the speech was finishing, a mile and a half away.

Conclusion:
- Pence’s action riled up the crowd.
- Trump’s words set up their betrayed expectations, because Pence was the last hope for justice.
- Months of burning and rioting in the cities, ignored by Democrats, had redefined public disobedience from structured marching in a circle holding signs, to violence.

- The media is blaring that there was no hope to change the election results, but apparently there was, as Trump said he had sound Constitutional advice.
- Also, two senators, one of them a famous constitutional scholar, were backing the last gambit for justice as required by law.
- When the electoral count restarted, all the appeals were swept aside in the emotion, Biden declared the winner.

I think what we have with Walker is a person, whom in common with many Trumpers, is in the grip of the Dunning/Kruger effect.
He is pathologically incapable of unthinking his most fundamental delusions.

I honestly think reunification is most possible by focusing on what unites us, and what we have in common, rather than how we must respond to every new wave of craziness.

People should not dismiss accountability for those who threaten our safety and peace, as that sets a very low bar for everything that follows.

If Republicans would expect accountability of Democrats storming the Capitol, and a Democratic president inciting them to do so (while withholding normal protective measures), then Republicans must expect the same accountability of themselves if they are at all honorable and honest. I am quite sure that Republicans would have NEVER allowed or excused a president like Trump (all throughout his term) if he had been representing the Democratic party. Nor would his current followers have been IN LOVE with him, calling him their Savior and "Daddy". People need to recognize insanity (their own and that of their leaders) over party/religious loyalty, or they are nothing more than sheep and pawns for the worst kind of agendas of humankind.
