For behind you, in your own ranks and where you are not looking, are other people with other agendas; and you've now formed the mechanisms they will use when they want to supplant you and take the agenda their way.

If he did that then it would split the Republican vote and the Democrats would keep getting in. I think the Republicans would have him as their candidate at the next election to prevent that from happening (if he's still around).
