Re: Who will take the vaccine?
The 'medically fragile' are the ancients.
here, the old & decrepit are merely one subset of the medically fragile, and not every oldster is considered medically fragile or compromised
80 year old stan, who takes a brisk stroll every morning & a shot of whiskey every night, is healthy and active: while old, he is not medically fragile
23 year old tamika (guess the race), uses a mini-golf to haul her obese keister around when she goes to the grocery to buy food for her diabetes: while young, she is medically fragile

Re: Who will take the vaccine?
My State was allocated 49K doses of Pfizer vaccine out of the 20M that had been advertised to be 100M, but only received 32K.
After 7 days my State has vaccinated 192 individuals.

Well there's a new strain now so the vaccine probably won't work anyway. I wonder if the Chinese are embarrassed about fucking up the whole planet.

“The average age of people who died from Covid-19 in England and Wales since the pandemic began is 82.4, the Daily Mail can reveal.
“That figure – computed from Office of National Statistics data by experts at Oxford University – is significantly higher than the average age reached by people recorded as dying from all other causes, which is 81.5.”
Good grief. Is the Daily Mail making up numbers?

Waaah, you are trying to kill my granny.... She might be drooling, in nappies, and brain dead but at 102 she deserves another few months, dammit!Walker wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 5:02 pm https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/arti ... -ROSE.html

Re: Who will take the vaccine?
To be serious, this virus is very strange in that it seems to 'personalise' itself to the individual. When people get a cold, everyone gets pretty much the same symptoms, with some getting over it faster than others depending on their own immune response.
Populations are co-operating because no one wants to be a 'one in a million' who gets devastating symptoms for no apparent reason, or have it happen to a loved one. Notice how EVERY time a young person got serious symptoms from it (the 'one in a million') the media made a huge song and dance about it? Hmm...
It's what we do NOT know about this virus that worries people.
Of course, this is all going to end up being a complete waste of time anyway. China isn't going to shut down all of its revolting wet markets, so it's only going to happen again. It knew this would happen as did the rest of the world after the last outbreaks of new viruses China caused. This pandemic was entirely predictable and preventable, yet no one did anything to prevent it. No one wanted to 'offend' China or be called 'raaacist' by wokie fuckheads.
The next pandemic might target children and the young. We have got off lightly (so far) this time.
Wow. A virus that targets almost exclusively the very old. It almost seems as if nature has deliberately given humans the gentlest warning possible...
Will we heed it? Of course not.

I’m going to book my flight right away (or at least some time before I turn 81 and a half).Walker wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 5:02 pm https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/arti ... -ROSE.html

Re: Who will take the vaccine?
In Florida, where I live, the first in line are medical staff. Second in line are people living in group retirement homes. To be honest, perhaps the initial recipients are doing us all a brave service by being the human guinea pigs on this. So I'm not entirely sure if it's that absurd.Lacewing wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 7:36 pmYes... it's absurd. Wasting lots of money and resources for nothing truly of value: lots of continuously sleeping people with few visitors. I would never want to be a drain on the system for others if I lost my ability to create/enjoy value. I hope future generations have more choice and awareness to avoid all of that.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:37 pm First in line for the vaccine are the extremely old in 'care facilities' because we have to make sure that the very old and very senile stay alive for as long as possible.

Overall it seems relatively humane to me to rush help to the elderly in group homes. Many of them have been abandoned there and don't have a whole lot to look forward to besides death and COVID is apparently a pretty nasty way to die.

I'll be happy if the Chinese regime just stops fucking with Taiwan. Although, I imagine the intent of the Chinese and Russian leaderships is to bankrupt Western countries by forcing an arms race.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 20, 2020 10:25 pm Well there's a new strain now so the vaccine probably won't work anyway. Old folks in nursing homes aren’t a drain on the system.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 2:45 pm Overall it seems relatively humane to me to rush help to the elderly in group homes. They’re the cash cow of an industry.
Here’s how it works for the silent majority. Most people work their whole lives to make a little less than what they need, or a little more. They maintain their homes because that’s their greatest asset, that is the material form of their life-force here on earth, and a well-kept home is worth more. It's protected by the constitution.
When they get old, they give it all to the nursing home in exchange for living there until they are dead. At that point they are helpless. But they are not a burden. They upheld their end of what many would say is a lopsided bargain. They gave everything up-front, in exchange for care until they die.
No, the burden on society is the cheaters. Cheating in elections is but one form of cheating. Those who cheat by not upholding their end of a life-bargain, and who hasten the final end for those who do uphold the bargain formed in relationship, are the spiritual drain on the soul of a nation.
Higher turnover. Greater profits, don’t you know.
Natural reactions to conditions in more socialistic countries, or minds, may condition more aggressive, selfish, and shall we say inhumane attitudes towards needlessly ending life. For instance: “When one dies and when another is not born, more for me! Yeah!”
