Sovereignty.
In a human world with numerous nation states and federations.
The near absolute economic sovereignty of each of them would necessitate they are all virtually self-sufficient.
If they depend on considerable trade, then there can only be interdependence. In which case either the most powerful dominates, or rabid competition reduces all to a common low standard. A higher standard necessitates mutual agreement on standards of products and of wages and the general economy.
The sustainable and logical place for sovereignty is with respect to preservation of diverse cultures, and populations. With virtually no movement of population permitted from country or region to region. If all the nations remain ‘open’ then a global society must evolve, which may see the extinction of all smaller cultures and populations.
