no so drunk yet, and not hours later, but wish to post reply to your below - you make important points.

I think the main point from 2 weeks ago as that i do not think Western Religions take into account animals' nature (they are just plants - souless).

but you make an important point below, and would like to address it.

Immanuel Can wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 3:01 pm
One thing might be that God gave mankind the responsibility to name the animals.
yes! Tetragrammaton!!!!!! is why YHWH gave Adam the power to name all the other animals (YHWH presented them before Adam, and Adam named them).

to know the true name of something is to have power over it! - via the theology of archaic Judiasm (the form of Judaism when the work - Genesis - was written. and why the jews of that time were never to speak the word YHWH orally., and why when Moses was told by YHWH when he asked "what is your name" - to pound sand, via just know that "I Am that i am". And why Jesus in Gospel of Mark commanded the Legion to "Be silent" before the Demons could state Jesus' "true name" - for to allow them to state it, would give them power of jesus.

Immanuel Can wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 3:01 pm You don't name something you're setting out to destroy.
none sequitor, the genesis story is all about knowing the True Name of things - from God to the animals, YHWH allowed Adam to "True name" the animals in genesis, in order to have power of the them.

Adam lost that power when he ate of the TOK, and thus the working with thorns bleeding your legs, pain in child birth.

Immanuel Can wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 3:01 pm Another might be that animals were created "good," as God says, so not something to be exploited or wiped out, and that mankind was made to be a steward of the Earth, not a destroyer of it.
the only animal that ate of the TOK was man, so all other animals remain sinless, but some become carnivores post fall of man - according to Jubaless, so man infected the nature of some animals - per the theology of Jubaless.

Immanuel Can wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 3:01 pm Even eastern religions are only practiced by humans. They teach us humans to be responsible for the tigers and monkeys; they never teach any tigers and monkeys to be responsible for us. And does any eastern religion teach fish and flowers to save humans?

no, but is that relevent? Eastern Religions do affirm that animals do have souls - so not rocks nor plants, and that if one is a human dick in this life will be reborn in an lower form of life, as say a frog. Eastern Religions leave it up to the frogs if they have their own religions. - if their relgions are good some will live a good life as frog and in the next life will be reborn as a higher animal - etc........... if not then the next stop is the worm and thier religions.

Immanuel Can wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 3:01 pm So eastern religions recognize that mankind is unique, and above animals, and responsible for what happens to them and to the environment.

a little off topic, but curious, ya Canada and Australia and NZ still affirm the Constitutional Monarchy (but not when the Queen fired the Australian PM in the 70's (Frasure?(sp).nor for the Canadians when the Gov General over-rode the PM and drafted thousands into the British WW1. so it might be a pick and choose thing for you and them.

what make the Constitutional Monarchy so great? verse say my Nation's mantra of my Constitution?

Socailism has worked for most of Western Europe since 1945.

just sayin.

I could tell you, Henry, but Immanuel knows a lot of The New Testament.
then tell me
"Let everyone who possesses two shirts share with him who has none, and let him who has food do likewise." (Luke: 3; 11)
amen! Jesus was a Socialist.

yep.

Jesus Christ? You mean the one who said, "My kingdom is not of this world?" That one?
that's John's Christ, not Luke's Christ.

But I'm curious: you seem to think you know what I do...how did you acquire this information?
Despite that this world was not his kingdom, Jesus taught us to share and share alike.
yep. refer to the Didache too, not canon, but related to the historical jesus' mindset - IMO, and affirms the Synoptics' view of the man.

Not "share." Not Socialist "sharing," anyway.

He taught charity. Socialism eliminates all charitability, because the government takes over paternalistically and prevents anyone from having anything to share.
understood and agree, me being a libertarian, and so do not like Gov Power in principle.

in the ideal all individuals should be Socialists, but most of us are not ;-/.

since that is the state of the land, i'd prefer a gov that acts so - with transperancy (they means to overrull Citizen united, kill all lobbyists)/etc.........

at least go back to the 1970's where there was actual progressive taxation on the rich! - since trickldown does not trickle.

------but pissing in the wind, America is too corrupt to reform now - lat chance was with Obama, and he caved via the Banks, too late now.

there will be no reform, nor a gov via the governed, just more 1-percenter oligarches - american will become the next Russia and i'm fucked, time to hoard the $$ i have and plan an exit to another nation that affirms my views on Liberty/Equity/Rule of Law - not rule of $$$ - if any nation is out there that does, and will allow me to move there.

many christians do just that, through charity

these christians also resent gov takin' from them and givin' to those who may not deserve compassion or charity

to emulate Jesus is not synonymous with bein indiscriminate

anyway: what makes you think conservatives or right-wingers or trump are lacking in compassion or charity?

Private charity is insufficient in this secular age. Time was when monasteries, and local church communities, and families, saw to the rescue of the poor and sick. But the social world is too different now when most people don't live in extended families, or in small communities presided over by a religious welfare organisation.

To emulate Jesus is to make a well informed, wise, and ethical choice. So to emulate Jesus is not to be indiscriminate, quite the opposite.

Is it only the deserving poor who should get help? No. Jesus helped the woman adulterer. And Jesus told the parable about the labourers in the vinyard:

In Matthew 20:1–16, Jesus says that any "laborer" who accepts the invitation to the work in the vineyard no matter how late in the day, will receive an equal reward with those who have been faithful the longest. This is just like "From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs".
Amen! 100 percent agree.

I thank you for your heart and wisdom Madam!

here in America - since Reagon, and later Citizen's united - legalized bribery - money (1-percenters rule over all of americans!)............

ya.

but via? other nations?

Norway? Sweden? France? Denmark?

educate me.

Apparently not. For got gave to man the authority to name the animals, and didn't just say, "Guess what their real name is."
Certainly. Moral responsibility, and the intelligence and status associated with it, are never attributed to animals at all.

But even the loony environmentalists think the same. After all, there is no People for the Ethical Treatment of Humans by Animals (PETHA). Everybody on all sides therefore recognizes that mankind is uniquely responsible, and thus not just another "animal." And that's true, no matter what they claim to the contrary, because their actions betray them on that. They never make an animal responsible for man. But they insist mankind is responsible.

As for Hinduism, reincarnation is just not scientifically tenable, for other reasons as well. One reason is that it requires a cyclical, eternal timeline. But time is empirically linear. It has a definite beginning and end. So do we all.

A good instance, that I know a lot about is foreign aid. It's been a terrible disaster in places like Africa, issuing in corruption, unsustainable projects, paralysis of local industries, mismanagement of resources, and so on. Private charity does almost all the good work in the Developing World, and the lead agents of betterment in the Developing World are...surprise, surprise...Christians!
i agree, 3rd world nations have folks in power (who are self claimed Christians BTW) take and take and line their pockets).

But the social world is too different now when most people don't live in extended families, or in small communities presided over by a religious welfare organisation.
Immanuel Can wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 8:47 pm Whose fault is that, where such things have come about?
general decay of Western Society - hedonism rules.

Immanuel Can wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 8:47 pm who even today tells families don't matter,

two can play that game (you are better than this, and know it!).

the Reichwingers care for unborn embroes, but as soon as it is born, they ignore if it/he/she lives live in an Orphanage or not.

good that makes 3 of us.

Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and France are doing well enough. in spite of their Socialism - lol.

Heh. Belinda got the quote wrong. It was said by John the Baptist, not Jesus. She didn't even read the passage.

John was speaking specifically to the nation of Israel at the time, as forerunner of Messiah, not issuing economic plans for future nations worldwide. Jesus Christ never repeated that saying, nor did he seek to establish any kingdom or political system in this world. He said quite bluntly, "My kingdom is not of this world."

That seems to take care of that.
