in the womb your right brain leads most of the way (well, sizeways anyway) only in the weeks leading up to birth does the left brain actually catch up and actually overtake the right brain.

Physical space is the correlation of our external and internal (proprioceptive) senses. Right and left are relative to our eyes, ears, and skin but not to smell or taste. (The skin of the tongue can tell left/right but the taste sensors cannot.)
