Let's go ad hominem

Post by Harbal »

We all have our heroes and villains amongst the big guns of philosophy. We will quote so and so, and ridicule the ideas of so and so, but it never seems to lead to any kind of resolution or agreement. For this reason, I propose a new approach. Let's forget about discrediting the ideas of those leading figures of philosophy, and attack them on a personal level, instead. If you want to disparage Descartes, focus on the size of his nose. Likewise with Nietzsche's moustache, or Kant's silly wig. I feel that arguments based on these things will be much harder to refute.

Let's give it a try, let's forge a new direction in philosophy.

..another fantastic well thought out thread from you Harbal, well done.

These dudes were all poopy heads:-

David Hume, Russell, Heidegger, Deleueze, Schopenauer, Nietzsche, Satre, Albert Camus, Derrida, Dewey, Diderot, Rorty, Santayana, Serle, Singer, Feuerbach, Bagini, Bentham, De Bauvoir.

...and don't get me started on David Hume. He loved tea so much that he stole his Mum's tea cosy and wore it on his head.
