Has anyone tried Virtual Reality (VR) ?

whats the resulution? do you see screendoor/pixelation?

if so that is a remover for imersion - and so removes one from virtual reality.

The resolution is 1440x1600 per eye. Concerns about graphics quality are soon forgotten when you start playing.

The untethered (no cables!) experience makes up for the trade-offs.

thanks for reply, sounds like the rez is good now, but there remains FPS - frames per sec - dependent upon the hardware, and in know its now merginal with top hardware and a sceen, and so double that for virtual reality?

so, good to hear the rez is good now, but i will personally wait another 5-10 yrs for the graphic cards/CPUs to be able to brute force high frame rates.

I'm ok with 2d projector and middle of the field PC for now.

gaffo - frame rates running on a standard gaming rig are way above any issues for motion sickness. I just got back from trying a friends new Playstation VR.

Not so good. Definitely had churn moments that I only ever experienced on the PC setup if there was a glitch.

The pixel density SD mentioned and heading towards 4K per eye as mentioned by SM definitely would be a lot better, but I don't give much of a rats arse about 'screen-door' = pixel density ok atm for me. If they go 4k just give me a broader Field Of View. FOV.

A friend gave me an Oculus for Christmas. My internet connectivity can be spotty where I live, so I've only had success with a few programs so far. The last one was a flight to and around the moon, and across its surface in a small space capsule. Going around the moon, I started to feel a little motion sickness. Looking around and seeing space everywhere was pretty trippy -- I even had a brief sense of loneliness. I enjoy being a bit of a hermit, away from the noise, but maybe not that much. I look forward to trying more programs.
