I suppose you drink and drive too?
NO? What is the bloody difference?

For many years, on and off, I lived in New Hampshire. You may know the state motto, "Live Free Or Die."Sculptor wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 5:54 pmLOL.RCSaunders wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 4:05 pmSo sorry my behavior annoys you! I never behave well around would-be tyrants.

It was not illegal to drink and drive in New Hampshire most of the time I lived there, and when they first made laws governing alcohol and driving it was only illegal to drive impaired, no matter how much alcohol you might have consumed. Of course that has all changed now all the Massachusetts liberals have moved to New Hampshire and turned it into another fascist state.
My wife and I are bikers (motorcycles, not those pussy peddle things). We both rode Harleys for years. In the summer we went roller skating several nights a week. We rode to the rink on my Road King (FLHRI--only Hog owners will understand). On hot nights, we would always stop at a little store on the long road between the rink and our home for a few Ballantines (a hoppy ale that is no longer made) to drink while riding home.
In those days we frequently ate at a favorite Mexican restaurant weekend evenings, where my wife would have margaritas and I would have a few shots of mezcal (tequila with a worm) chased with Dos Equis (XX). After dinner we would ride to Callahan's for martinis (the biggest ones in New England), then ride to the Kahula Palace to drink (bourbon for me, CC for my wife, on the rocks) and dance all night before riding home in the wee hours of the morning.
Your damn right I drank and drove, and I drank a lot. Never had an accident or a problem nor did hundreds of others I knew because they were grown up adults who didn't need a nanny government to tell them how to behave or to look both ways before crossing the street.
Make of it what you will.
How to deal with a friend who thinks ''Evil Intention'' is a hoax.
Oh, I will. So will you. The purpose of life is not to make it last as long as possible. The purpose of life is to live and enjoy it as long as it lasts. As Mencken said, you can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and breadth.
But people are not feared by what they are allowed to have as their own informed opinions of what they think is going on in the world in which they too live and breath and walk in, doesn't mean they're scared shitless of their own opinions.RCSaunders wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:31 pm What I don't understand is why they cannot bear that some people do not live in perpetual fear or in doubt their own ability to deal with life and make something of it without the fear-mongers agreement or approval.
Fear mongering again are we, tut tut!RCSaunders wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:31 pmSomething is going to kill you. Life is full of bad things that can happen to you, and some of them surely will.
I'm not sorry.
Because, as I'm sure you already know, many people NEED others to agree with them in order to feel validated. There are all kinds of groups and individuals who insist that everyone must accept and believe what they accept and believe so they feel right. Theists are typically unable to accept others not believing in what they believe, so they make up wild stories about what will happen to the non-believers. It's so childish.RCSaunders wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:31 pm Most people are so afraid of dying (which they mistake for a love of life), they willingly, even enthusiastically, obey anyone who promises them safety and ease and protection for their squalid miserable little lives. I certainly do not care if that is how they choose to live, and I wish them well. What I don't understand is why they cannot bear that some people do not live in perpetual fear or in doubt their own ability to deal with life and make something of it without the fear-mongers agreement or approval.
And that's why I like you Lacewing, I've told you this before. Because you are a smart woman, I really see you...too much that it sometimes hurts me, and makes me feel physically unwell, just because I don't like facing my shadow side full on.Lacewing wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 5:30 pmBecause, as I'm sure you already know, many people NEED others to agree with them in order to believe themselves right. For many people, "different beliefs" and "independence" threaten the platforms they stand on BECAUSE the simple truth of there being many perspectives and truths invalidates their limited claims of what IS.
Same goes for you. For a biker, you sure sound like a grouchy old man. You FUCKING OLD MEN need to realize that you don't know everything... and you don't know what's best. Your blind arrogance and rage contributes its own toxic crap to the greater mess.![]()

I actually really do like you Lacewing. I know I'm a bit stubborn, but I'm being genuine now. You are my perfect mirror.
