Mice etc... are made pretty much from the same DNA as humans. We carry viruses all the time, that don't bother us - those ones rarely mutate within our own DNA to create an issue for us. It's the ones in our brother mammalians that manage to interface to our own that create the havoc - and yes - mutate from there.
DUh.
Zoonitic diseases are rare. There is a very good reason for that.
The flu virus has been in continual mutation for centuries. With each passing year the vaccine has had to keep catching up with at least a couple of versions each year. These are all the result of humangenic mutations.
The common cold which is akin to the Covid types of virus mutate too much to keep track of. That is why people can get several colds every year, since the virus is seldom like enough for the last set of antibodies to be effective.
This pandemic was waiting to happen, and the Covid virus did not need the help of any animal to achieve the current lucky mutation.
Bugs reproduce in astronomical numbers with massive potential for mutation. Most of these mutations fail; some offer a less virulent strain, but rarely the mutation causes a more virulent mutation.
This version has everything a virus could want, except that the fatality is higher than useful to the virus; but has asymptomatic infectivity and is very catching.
So now you are a virologist? Gee, you are really determined to protect the Chinese wet markets and govt. from any blame whatsover. What the fuck is wrong with you? Do you have a share in those markets of something, or do you need some pangolin scales for your impotence?
Normally I don't read your vitriol. But I am glad to have looked at this piece of shite, since you have given us a great example of an ad hominem for another thread on the Forum.

The fact is that you are not a virologist either, and the fact that neither of us are virologists is not relevant. You are attacking ME and not the argument; which is sound.

You have zero evidence and neither does any virologist either. Just because there is similarity between viruses in humans and pangolins does not tell us anything about the direction of the vector that is why cross species viruses cannot be attributed to one species over another.
If you knew the first thing about virology you would know that.

The primary source of flu and cold viruses is humans owing to our bad habits of travelling all over the fucking world - which few other animals can get near to.

You are a vegefascist racist p****.

And out comes the 'r' word. How unpredictable you are. YOU are such a projecting racist kunt. So it happens to come from China and anyone who dares to mention that is a 'racist'? Go fuck yourself you PC wanker. It's people like YOU who are fucking up the planet!
If it came from Russia, or the US, would it be 'racist' to point that out? Of course not, because you are a racist, projecting piece of patronising crap who secretly believes that Asians are naturally inferior, therefore needing the 'protection' of superior white cockheads like you!
Funny how it's only the know-nothing PC fuckturd shills who are disputing where the virus came from.

And by the way, arsehole, next time it might be children who are targeted by a virus FROM CHINA instead of old farts like you. THEN it might be something that I worry about.

Most recent Italian statistics:

Average age of those who have died fromt the virus 78.
72% are male.
''The latest Italian analysis reveals that around three in four of those who died suffered from two or more chronic diseases. Half had suffered from three or more chronic conditions.''

FFS.
Viral DNA is basically made from the same DNA as the host, since the way Viruses reproduce is to invade host cells. This is why zoonotic diseases are very rare, since DIFFERENT species tend to have DIFFERENT DNA - rather obviously.

Hey everyone, don't listen to the experts the virologists\epidemiologists that the virus is most likely to have come from another species of animal - listen to Sculptor - he's all over this shit.
According to Sculptor swine flu didn't come from swine, it mutated within a policeman that lived just around the corner from him.

RIDICULOUS.

You should watch the new film The Gentlemen - there is a scene that sums this shit up very well.
You've obviously never been on the receiving end of the epithet "Paki".

Well it would be a bit odd owing to the fact that I am not from Pakistan.

I can understand someone being born in England being called a Paki taking some offense.

Let me contort to a different perspective. Let's say there is a land called Pomegranate. The people from this land have dark skin and a culture very different to the land they have moved to. The locals call them Poms because it is a shortening of Pomegrani.

Now, why is it not ok to call them Poms?

Why not call them Pomegranians? What is the purpose of shortening the correct name?

I thought 'Poms' was originally an insult directed at English immigrants by the Australians, as was 'Paki' in Britain.

Yes I was going to use Pomegranites but Pomegranians is good.

As you know Poms is what the OZs call the English - not just the immigrants. Why not shorten things? Nothing wrong with it. Australians are not offended by being called Aussies so wherein lies the problem here?

It comes back to what Veg is stating - that the PC mob are feeling superior - possibly subconsciously - to those of other race\culture thus they feel better about their predicament by calling out RACIST at every twist and turn that triggers that hidden demon inside.

Yeah, it's about as 'offensive' as 'paki', but no one gives a shit. I've never heard any of the PCturd lobby getting 'offended on behalf of' poms. Probably because they are racist kunts.

I guess in how it is used, as I thought that 'Poms' was basically a slur in Australia when first used and came generally with the word 'whinging', whereas over here 'Paki' generally came with the word 'fucking'. I also thought that 'Aussie' was a name given by Australians to themselves and not one assigned to them by others?

Like I've said to veg, I have little contact with this 'PC' mob as I don't bother with social media so I have little care about their psychology.

Some medical folks are sayin' it's way too early to pin down the morality rate, and it seems to express itself in a much more narrow portion of the population than the flu.
Lethality rate is 2-3 percent, 15 percent get sicker than a dog for a week or two but live, 80 percent get just a slight cold, or have no symptoms at all and do not even know they are carriers/carrying the viri.

at all about genetics - of the individual.

do you feel lucky in the genetic lottery?

stats are on your side 5 to 1.

its airborn so good per viri perspective, as to its lethality being to large, not so 2 pecent is not large.

do you know about the airborn ebola mutation that infected Reston Va lab monkeys in the 80's? Ebola is 75-percent lethal BTW - it no big deal because the "Wild form" is blood born, not airborn. and the icubation is only 2 days.....so you dont walk about infecting others too long before you get sick and 3/4 of the time die (and its not airborn so you dont infect others usually anyway while you are dying).

back to Reston - where there was a mutation of ebola that become equally lethal but was also ariborn............300 monkeys euthanized.

do you know about this?

now that would be a true killer viri, if it "got out" into the world.

would make Sars-2 look like a picnic.

...............

do you know about other viri - like Lassa Fever and Marburg? both airborn viri and in the wild just waiting to start the next pandemic and known to us since the 1970's.

Lassa is 30 percent lethal

Marburg is a cutie - can walk about for a month infecting many others not knowing you have only a few weeks to live - if you are the 50 percent of the lucky.
