Is politics ruining scholarship?

Post by TheVisionofEr »

If I get a political idea of some concept such as race from the sociology department after reading up on the evils of colonialism and post-colonialism under Loic Wacquant who assign me Fanon and the rest, will I know the truth? Or, a presupposed selection of facts, all true but emphasized to keep with my political aims? After decades of the study of the problems of history, one great British scholar declared it were better that history be abolished as a discipline, given the misleading and false teachings it produces. The first professional historians openly served the House of Hohenzollern, and issued in propaganda and ideology. Many a' Phildoc buyer won't know this even when they begin to teach, established as disciples of politically bent professors.
