When does it become a person?
If it's a person, shouldn't it be accorded the same consideration as any other person?
The other replies have not answered the three questions.

Viability is not a distinguishing characteristic of personhood because after conception, a person is viable both in the womb and outside the womb until the person encounters a nonviable condition. A nonviable condition for a person in the womb is separation from the mother. A nonviable condition for millions of adult people outside the womb would be total loss of services for a week, or two, but no more than four.

Come to south Louisians: we got plenty of pastures and waterways and both are chockablock with life.
Stay the hell away from New Orleans, though...that place is a cesspool.

Walker,
No, viability can't be the litmus test. I'm inclined, as I say, to consider the foundations of brain & nervous system as the beginning of personhood. That foundation is formed by 4 weeks.
Consider this, however: what a woman carries from conception is undeniabily 'human' and 'alive'. Left alone, this cluster of living human cells will become a human being. We can, as the mood strikes, expend an awful lot of time, energy, and money catering to and coaxing potentials far less concrete than the potential inherent in that bundle of human cells.

1- Hopefully it will last for as long as you're alive. Given another 20 to 30 years (probably less) and it won't look the same from the way you see it now.
2- Potential can take many forms. It can be hideously destructive or wonderfully creative. As applied to humans these extremes are the exceptions but by far most are just another addition to a massively overcrowded planet.

What a moron. Your comments on here show you to be a blatant and unashamed hypocrite. That's all that counts on here--the words on the screen. What a person looks or smells like off the screen is only privy to those they encounter in the non-web world.

There goes your kristian whacked-up 'brain' again. I could call you an ugly, fat, smelly slob. Or someone could come on here and say they are the handomest man on the planet. They can say it, but it means nothing in the context of an internet forum.
Oh what's the point. You'll never understand anyway. It's like 'arguing' with a one year old.

"There goes your kristian whacked-up 'brain' again."
I'm not christian, I'm a deist (and you're a cow).

"I could call you an ugly, fat, smelly slob."
Actually: ugly, scrawny, smelly slob would be accurate (and you, of course, are a cow).
#
"Or someone could come on here and say they are the handomest man on the planet."
Not me, cuz that would be a flat-out lie (and you're a cow).
#
"They can say it, but it means nothing in the context of an internet forum."
Indeed (cow).
#
"Oh what's the point."
It's sumthin' for you to do while waitin' on Farmer John to slap your fat ass then tug on your teats.
#
"You'll never understand anyway."
You're right: I never will. So: waddle on, Bessy.

Yep...bye now, brown cow.
