Never heard of it, but you seem to know it well. I don't use websites to tell me how to think. I just do it.

Find one time that I have used the expression 'PC gone mad'. It's a bloody stupid expression.Arising_uk wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 2:37 am My! How little you become when you have to think about what you've said. Surely there must be a social network site you can go wank on about PC gone mad?

Re: Irish 'multiculturalism'
Now you change your story. I've never seen Ireland coming into the PC radar. Ireland tends to stir up strong emotions, and the PC are a passionless lot. They are about platitudes and appearances and really don't give a damn about any of their pet 'causes'. The Irish have never been one of their 'special protected groups'. Far from it.

You're not very old then but maybe your country was not concerned with such things back in the day.vegetariantaxidermy wrote:Now you change your story. You're an idiot. You don't even know what PC is. I never said anything was 'fine and dandy' so stick your strawmen.Arising_uk wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 9:45 pmYou're not very old then but maybe your country was not concerned with such things back in the day.vegetariantaxidermy wrote:Now you change your story. Another 'PC are this, PC are that' as far as I can see the only difference between you and the PC brigade is that you don't like their pet causes and would rather them concentrate on yours. But it's a bore getting dragged into your world, all I asked was why you don't apply the same standards that you applied in a previous conversation about colonists to the Irish as they met the criteria you used to say that colonization was fine and dandy.
Ireland has had a national identity for millennia. The English have persecuted them for much of that time, even up to the latter half of the twentieth century.

But they, at that time, didn't meet the criteria of a country that you elsewhere said was what made colonization not an issue, so what's the problem? And if there is one what would be your solution? Or you just another PCer whinging about the nasty Brits and their empire.

Re: Irish 'multiculturalism'
They did actually. You can hardly expect them to have had a liberal democracy but they still have an ancient national identity. 'Northern Ireland' is a ridiculous abomination, an appendage that doesn't know who or what it is.Arising_uk wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 12:30 am But they, at that time, didn't meet the criteria of a country that you elsewhere said was what made colonization not an issue, so what's the problem? ... A piece of land is not a country until it has a uniting Government and national identity.
The Irish at the time had none of the above, they were, like your Maoris, a bunch of tribes or clans as they prefer with multiple 'kings'. So like your descendants we were bringing the angelic benefit of civilization to them.

Ireland had none of this at the time so by your lights the colonists had every right to be there. So where do you go from here?

Re: Irish 'multiculturalism'
Did you think I meant a liberal democracy? Are you claiming that Ireland didn't exist until England 'civilised' it? Even an essentially symbolic 'Head of State' is a uniting body. Why do you refer to it as Ireland then? Where does the name come from? You are so typical of PC wankers. Defending your country's relentless brutality towards the people of Ireland. Why do you think they left in such huge numbers? I bet you wear red poppies too, and have no complaints about England's LEADING part in the destruction of the ME.Arising_uk wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2019 11:50 amNot when my kids got a high-temperature.vegetariantaxidermy wrote:Don't you ever sleep?Stop clutching at strawmen.
