... or a patient hunter.

Care to share the particulars, in general?attofishpi wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 2:35 pm Do you understand that I am stating I have had 22 years of experience of 'Brahman' - it showed me its chaos, it fucked with my life for much of the 22 years

We are here at this moment because of electricity.
Without electricity, we would not be here at this moment: me in the past, you in the present.
We exist to perpetuate life through procreation and nurturing of our own species, same as most any mammal.

Well, other mammals' purpose of existence also involves to be eaten by their predators and other natural enemies, such as disease-causing bacteria (as an example).
Re: WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE HERE? WHY DO WE EXIST?
What I was trying to say, is that it is futile and stupid to seek an ultimate purpose for existence. Just because something happens, or something makes something happen, it has causes, causation, but can and does easily lack purpose.
Purpose exists only with a specific goal in mind. "I was hungry, so I purposely ate that hedgehog to alleviate my hunger." Purpose does not exist in a sense that would allow a realistic answer to many a "why" question such as "why are we here?"
Well, because we are not there, and that is the reason we're here.
Re: WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE HERE? WHY DO WE EXIST?
That's one whacky mammal.
The purpose of an animal is to not be eaten.
That’s why animals do their best to stay away from hunters and fishermen.
The purpose of a mammal is to eat, so that it can procreate and nurture those of its kind.
The antelope says, I think I'll go eat some grass today, that will be my purpose.
The antelope does not say, I think I'll go get eaten today, that will be my purpose.

No, it's stupid.-1- wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 7:53 amWell said, Henry. "The emperor's new clothes."henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 12:11 am"If you can sit in a chair indefinitely without doing or thinking anything, then..."

Plenty of people meditate to still the mind.
They are not houseplants.
They are people.
Plenty of hunters sit motionless and alert for long periods of time.
They are not houseplants.
They are hunters.

I agree with Walker. As regards other animals' purposing, I claim that plants also purpose. I watched a super TV programme last night about the seasons of an oak tree. The magnificent tree did purpose to do all that it did despite that it had no cerebral cortex for it to have knowledge of what it was so actively doing.

He didn't say anything like 'Plenty of hunters sit motionless and alert for long periods of time.'
He described a houseplant; you, Walker, described 'me' when I take the shotgun out into the woods (and I'm no houseplant).
Hunters '*think'; houseplants don't.
*Take my cat: she's old, has one eye, has arthritis, and pads about with a limp. Her brain doesn't 'think' (too small, too simple) but damned straight when the birds alight on the lawn, she hunkers down and 'assesses', she ain't a houseplant either.

Re: WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE HERE? WHY DO WE EXIST?
Well they still need to procreate and nurture their own species, for it "to be eaten by their predators and other natural enemies"
Re: WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE HERE? WHY DO WE EXIST?
Because some thing CAN, does NOT mean that it DOES.-1- wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 8:02 amWhat I was trying to say, is that it is futile and stupid to seek an ultimate purpose for existence. In what part of EXISTENCE did you FIND the ANSWER that seeking an ultimate purpose for existence is "FUTILE"?
Some might suggest that expressing one's own VIEW of things is FUTILE, also.
Is doing that FUTILE also?
If yes, then why? And why keep doing it?
If no, then why NOT?
WHERE did you FIND this, proposed as, ABSOLUTE KNOWLEDGE of things, from exactly?
Re: WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE HERE? WHY DO WE EXIST?
I was trying to show to you in a facetious way that a thing that happens is not a thing that has been purposed to happen.Walker wrote: ↑Tue Mar 12, 2019 10:19 amThat's one whacky mammal.

An antelope will fornicate, but not to make antelope babies. The purpose of the antelope is to feel pleasure. Sexual fulfilment is pleasurable. Kids born is a bi-product that has neither been planned, nor purposed by the antelope.
The sexual pleasure happens, it can be a purpose, but children born of it are not a purpose.
But you insist that the antelope fornicates to maintain the future of the species. I insist that maintaining a species is an untouched and unpurposed act, and if it is purposed, then getting eaten is purposed, too, as it happens, too, much like an antelope-orgasm happens.
Listen to Belinda. She's on your side. (!) She supports you by saying that it is the purpose of a rock to fall to the bottom of a deep well, when let go unsupported at the top level of the well. She's saying in a reverse-psychological and ironic / sarcastic way, that stones have purpose despite having no nervous system.
