Re: Philosophy of Mind
Philosophy ought to be a living adapted language of the generation and all generations by using, the right application of words implants conviction. Thrasymachus description of language to be easy or hard by showing how one mined a particular form of argument and another persuades not persuaded. Every word written or spoken was used before. This is the art of disputation the same in every use of language; Language is an art, the greatest of heaven's blessings not thrown down anyhow, not just words that come to mind, mere opinion, has no reason in them.

Re: Philosophy of Mind
Pythagoreans spoke of sun as the innermost point of the sphere as the midpoint or centre. Aristotle believed sun that if the whole world which is spherical is in need of the light of the sun and sunlight heat, then sun would be best to be at midpoint. Copernicus the skilled astronomer of the fifteenth century was the first to actually show the sun as the mid point. He regard sun midpoint to take place the sun at the centre rather then sun moving around the centre of the planets.
Parmenides stated. (Arist. Phys. p. 27b; 31b)"Since the utmost limit of being is perfect, it resembles on every side the form of a well rounded sphere, which from its centre extends in all directions equally, for it can be neither larger or smaller in one part or another. There is no non-being which prevents it from attaining to the like.”

Re: Philosophy of Mind
How does sunlight relate to earth? The answer is light relate to earth only on the surface. Loadstone for example are not magnetic in the mines, only after loadstones are brought out of the mine that they become magnetic; therefore sunlight is the stimulus of magnetism. The most important characteristic of sunlight makes it things visible.
In order for something to be made visible, rough smooth and pointed substance must be present. Material substance is visible through light, meaning light and substance a relationship; Light brightens up makes earth visible. Without sunlight, earth would be a void without process. This relationship brings the difference of day and night; sun mounting higher and higher is daytime and when it reaches the midpoint sinks to its lowest is night time.
We see only shadows by sunlight; we perceive shadows, then images and last truth, not image like truth, but truth that gives the seasons, and years, and names for all things; not mere opinion, not shadows, not disputing about truth with tainted eyes, and make no good attempt to go beyond the opinions of shadows.

Re: Philosophy of Mind
A good explanation of magnetism laying in mutual indifference are crystals because, they do not only have an outside form but seen an inner form of divided fragments.
Crystals inner surface is very smooth but outwardly has edges and angles some rough and some orderly, grows and grows upward released from the influence of gravity. A body is shut off from other bodies; crystals are bounded by a specific determination. A quiescent form that grows upward is called crystallization an all pervading form and necessary for our existence.
Magnetism is a highly astonishing phenomenon is purely immateriality For example, if I place a small piece of unmagnified iron near a magnetized small piece of iron you observe a movement. One end of each small piece attracted toward the North Pole, while the other end is repelled toward the South Pole and the unmagnified small piece has become magnetized but only up to the middle point.
Observe how Iron fillings attach themselves to a magnet up to midpoint where attraction and repulsion vanishes This middle point is the free center; neutral point of the earth and the two poles of the earth one pointing north, while the other points south.
Generally, only metals can be magnetized principally iron, but also in nickel and cobalt, metals have in them an inner crystallization which causes metals to be magnetized.
Metals are conductors of heat and magnetism. Heated iron readily becomes magnetized, readily loses magnetism. Merely stroke iron converts it magnetic; but it must be stroked in the direction of the mid-way. Even striking or knocking iron with your hand or shaking it in the air, makes iron magnetic. Actually there is great difficulty making iron non-magnetic.
Earth is a living magnet and magnetism is this wholly universal feature of earth, all points of the earth are magnetized in its entirety.
Knowing is the ultimate truth of consciousness, for what gives certainty exercises truth. Knowledge must be dependent on principles derived from wisdom that it was requisite above all to try to establish truth. What is truth but objective actuality but it vanishes in the course of an incident? Into the native land of truth is self-consciousness coming into being.
Knowledge must be dependent on wisdom that is requisite above all to try to establish any truth. The principle of knowledge is wholly directed to truth.

Re: Philosophy of Mind
The process of magnetism links together all the indifferent parts of earth is a silent formative process that is everywhere at work not like electricity magnetism brings different material points under a form of unity.
Magnetism is the super-sensible sphere. If any one thinks that purpose is not in life can be shown by magnetism pure immaterial. Magnetism is a highly astonishing phenomenon.
Whereas electricity makes it’s appearance in thunderstorms, lightening and northern lights. Magnetism is two ends affirm each other in connection with the other, cannot exist on its own but only in union. This physical opposition cannot be separated; Let me explain, the north pole cannot be separated from the south pole even if cut off into two each piece each is s a complete magnet, with each pole affirms the other.
The middle is a free center, the neutral point it can be compared with the center of the earth; the two poles of the earth one pointing north, while the other points south.
Crystals are a good example of explaining magnetism crystals has an outer form the inner are fragments laying in mutual indifference. A piece of crystal can be broken off reveal in layers a systematically growing upward.
The crystal has an amazing characteristic, the outermost point of body on one hand and on the other hand, inner fluidity. Then crystals must have three determinations, first the main abstract outer most form second, magnetism and third, crystallization that stirs and moves as an impulse.
Look at crystal’s inner surface is very smooth but outwardly its form has edges and angles some rough and some are orderly. Crystals are bounded by a specific determination called crystallization and necessary for existence.

Re: Philosophy of Mind
Socrates believed any kind of knowledge acquired under force does not stay in mind so let us not slave in the gaining of knowledge for that which is rigid and cold is powerless. Inflexibility exists as long as it does not break down, like the moon rigid represents earth's centre and the principle of individuality.
The sphere that transforms being into existence is Physics; here no longer is being indifferent relationship like space and time. Air fire and water earth binds together these elements have the power that kindles earth into process. The process of earth is called atmospheric, a manifestation of being. Through the process earth affirms the unity of elements, air, fire, and water.
Now the barometric level is the index of the atmosphere changes inside the terrestrial earth. For example, earth alters the atmosphere either more or less. The higher level of the barometric level puts a stop to the formation of water and at a lower level permits water .a greater tension of earth's inwardness the higher the level is and withdrawal from the grip of gravity is earth's way of showing its individuality.
An excellent illustration how Earth ties together the elements air fire and water into a series of processes. The meteorological process of the earth’s atmosphere affirms the unity of elements, air, fire and water in the form of barometric index level that demonstrates changes are inside the terrestrial earth.

Isn't there a Guinness Record Book category for the most words uttered in a thread by any one person, on a forum with no quality control?
Or perhaps medication is in order?
Or both?
You certainly have my vote!

Re: Philosophy of Mind
Nameless,
Your thinking is really disputation; because you cannot define what philosophy is, you sort mere verbal opposition in the spirit of arguing not dialogue but verbal antagonism.
If I myself believed that I knew what I was talking about: declaring the truth about matters of such high interest, which people honor and love. I am most in need of sure footing and I pray I do.
Courage is a sort of saving power of true opinion about real and false dangers. Under all circumstances I intimate under all desire or fear I preserve and do not lose courage.
Mightier than any soda lye; courage is the mightiest of all other solvents for washing the soul of sorrow, fear, or desire.

If you had read any of my posts, you would have noticed that I have defined philosophy as 'critical thought'.Barbara Brooks wrote:Nameless,...you cannot define what philosophy is

So do almost everyone.
Then might I recommend religion rather than philosophy, as there one can 'believe' unto 'certainty'.I am most in need of sure footing and I pray I do.
Philosophy demonstrates that there is nothing of which to be certain, no 'firm footing', no stability or security in life but 'believing' the illusions thereof (religion)
Courage is a sort of saving power of true opinion about real and false dangers.
WHat is a "true opinion"? As far as I can see, all 'opinions' are equally true.
That can certainly be a warm and comforting belief.Under all circumstances I intimate under all desire or fear I preserve and do not lose courage.
"'Courage' is another ego wank for people who believe in (the ego wank of) 'free-will' and 'choice' ('sin of pride')."
Poetic, but that doesn't make a chamelion who changes its coloring for protection 'courageous'. It is his nature, he cannot do otherwise. He has no more 'choices' in the matter than you or I.Mightier than any soda lye; courage is the mightiest of all other solvents for washing the soul of sorrow, fear, or desire.
Whatever get you though the night is fine (not that you have any choice), but 'belief' and 'clinging' to one's 'crucifix' is the warmth and security of religion rather than the bloody mental shark attack of philosophy.

The problem with this fact is it's not, as the chameleon does not do this.nameless wrote:...

Are you saying that a chameleon does not change coloring? Or merely arguing my poor wording? I'm willing to eliminate "for protection" as poor wording, it is not a 'willful' thing.Arising_uk wrote:The problem with this fact is it's not, as the chameleon does not do this.nameless wrote:...

Yes but not for protection.
p.s.
If it was, why would this not be a 'willful' act? If its not then it must be a 'willful' act?

No, of course not 'for' protection (poorly worded), perhaps as protection, or, different coloration happens at moments of decreased predation (correlation rather than causation).Arising_uk wrote:Yes but not for protection.

Thanks for the wake up. (Been tired)
In my defence, I did have the folloing in my previous post;
"I'm willing to eliminate "for protection" as poor wording, it is not a 'willful' thing."
