Trust those who seek the truth doubt those who say they have found it
Trust those who seek the truth doubt those who say they have found it
Trust those who seek the truth...doubt those who say they have found it.
I've been searching for the Truth, in various ways, throughout my entire life.
Still searching. At this time in my late life I feel more lost than ever.
I don't know the reasons and I no longer have a compass or a discipline.
My energy is on the wane. Has been for a number of years.
Been homogenized.
Don't know the way out or even a way forward.
Perhaps these circumstances are the tools that I will engage for my next truthful endeavor.
...got the feeling I will never reach another deep understanding, the way that I did in my youth.
Not feelin real strong on my intuition or street smarts.
If you respect and trust me just move-on from this thread without giving a literal response.
I non-verbally trust you and you in-turn trust and respect me in a non-verbal way.
I thank you ahead of time...

So I should doubt this statement or believe it?lindelof wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 3:22 am Trust those who seek the truth...doubt those who say they have found it.

What if I think I've found 'some' truth?
Meh, guess not.

What is "the truth"? Every truth in the world? The answer to a question? You aren't being specific enough to comment.
p.s I don't respect or give unconditional trust complete strangers

The search for Truth is the same as the search for God. A hamster wheel for your mind.
Introspect. Do what makes you happy. Care not for what the world tells you to think.

What if what makes me truly happy is the search for the truth? Then I am screwed, according to your advice, ain't I.
And I also like to extraspect. Look out, not just in, and share my thoughts.
Wow. Heavy.
Re: Trust those who seek the truth doubt those who say they have found it
Those who seek the truth usually have extremely low cognitive abilities, are glaringly ignorant thus will never see it, even if they're face are dug deep in it!
..they're simply not intelligent enough!

Re: Trust those who seek the truth doubt those who say they have found it
This actually makes sense. Those who don't search for the truth, don't, because they've already found it.
It's like something you search for is always in the last place you look.
Re: Trust those who seek the truth doubt those who say they have found it
I hope it's not my own daughter you are going to try and sluff off on me. Like the last time with my dog Fifi that I had lost in the park.
Re: Trust those who seek the truth doubt those who say they have found it
Trust with what...
1. That they give out reliable information?
2. That they won't steal my money, if I give it to them for safekeeping?
3. That they won't screw my wife while I'm turning my back? And the goods or services that they give me are of the same value that they claim it is?
Lie, steal, cheat.
What does searching for the truth hafta do with trust?
If someone claims to have found the truth, I ask him to provide evidence I can check.
If someone searches for the truth, well, that and that alone proves or indicates no amount of his trustworthiness or lack thereof.
Or maybe I misunderstood your maxim.
I read your opening post.
It says you are lost, we must keep quiet about it and provide non-verbal respect; and we must run away.
O...kay.

Re: Trust those who seek the truth doubt those who say they have found it
Your problem is your wrong definition of the Truth, i.e. with a capital "T" that pre-exist and is to be searched and found rather than enabling truths to emerge and realize within your human condition.
This is why you are stuck in a frustrated mode because you are searching for an impossible capital-T-Truth.
Truth is always conditioned upon oneself within a Framework and System agreed explicitly and implicitly. There is no Truth that is absolute by itself and independent of the human condition.
As Popper [Karl] has asserted scientific truths, at best, are merely polished conjectures. It is the same for all other types of truth.
There is no absolute nor final truths, but rather one starts with crude conjectures and keep polishing truths [within a Framework and System] without the possibility of any final polished truth.
Thus rather than searching, wishing and hoping for an impossible final Truth and be burdened with frustrations, one should strive to realize truths and believe in justified truths that are optimal to oneself and continue to realize greater truths [not the final Truth]. In this case one is like going on a never ending journey with continual rewards along the way. As such there is no room for frustrations and related sufferings associated with not knowing the Truth [cap T].
Note, real scientists do not doubt those other scientists who discover new scientific truths because they understand such truths are true ONLY within the Scientific Framework and System which allow scientific truths to be changed upon justified new evidence to support the newer truth.
I supposed the real scientists will feel frustrated if they believe there is a Final TRUTH which would meant the end of Science and their career.
Thus the point is, for any truth discovered and found, one should not claimed it to be final and absolute, rather whatever the truth, it is always conditional and subjected to the Framework and System agreed or believed upon. There will always be newer truths to be found which give positive vibes of hopes and inspiration.
The problem with the issue of truth is with theists who insist 'God exists' as the final and ultimate Truth, i.e. absolute and independent of human conditions. Theists do not realize their claim "God exists" is a typical truth that is subjected to their Psycho-Theological Framework and System. I have proven such a "truth" is pseudo and an impossibility to be real.
